Scholarships

**Scholarship applications are now closed**

The ALT 14 organizers and the Association for Linguistic Typology offer a limited number of scholarships for researchers to attend the ALT 2022 conference. We can cover conference registration, low-cost accommodation, and travel to the degree possible.

Scholarship applications should be submitted following notification of abstract acceptance (after June 1, 2022). We ask that applicants submit one page to the email address below detailing their interest in typology, their financial situation, the title of their accepted abstract, and the name and contact details of one referee. We also ask applicants to have their referee submit a letter of support to the same email address. The letter should describe the applicant, their research trajectory, and their financial situation.

Some scholarship support will be reserved for researchers from low-income countries. These scholarships will be based on the need for funding as demonstrated by the applicant and in the letter of reference. Factors to be considered include (i) the income level of the country where the applicant is based and (ii) the income level of the applicant’s home country. Our list of relevant countries is based on: https://data.worldbank.org/country/XO.

Scholarship applications should be submitted by August 15, 2022. Notifications of acceptance will follow in September.

Scholarship applications and queries may be submitted to: alt2022@austin.utexas.edu. Please put ‘ALT Scholarship Application’ in the email subject line.
