  • Registration costs include coffee breaks and lunches during the main conference on December 15-17.

  • The conference will include hybrid options for both papers and posters. Please note that our capacity to offer a robust hybrid experience is limited. Fees for virtual participation will go toward the costs of technical equipment and expertise to enable hybrid capacity.


REGISTRATION DEADLINE: November 15, 2022. Early bird registration ends October 1, 2022.


CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds after November 15th. Refunds of registration fees less a 3% credit card processing fee will be honored prior to this date.


MEMBERSHIP FEES to the Association for Linguistic Typology must be paid together with the conference registration (with exceptions for Sponsoring and Life memberships), as per current ALT policy. This fee will appear as ‘ALT Remittance’ on the payment platform and receipt.

2REG: Two-year regular membership, $125

2STU: Two-year student membership (reserved for registered undergraduate, graduate and PhD students), $65

2LMI: Two-year membership for colleagues in low and middle income countries, $65


REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION: Registration is confirmed upon payment receipt. You should receive an email confirmation within 24 hours of making the payment.


SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) INTERPRETATION will be provided during the conference. If you will require sign language interpretation, please be sure to indicate this in the registration platform using the link provided.

TEACH-INS: ALT 2022 will feature four teach-ins, held at on December 14, 2022. To register, without any additional costs, please indicate your choice here. Teach-in registration will remain available until all spaces are filled. See Teach-ins for further information.

If you have difficulty making international money transfers to pay your conference fee, please contact the organizers.

Here are some step-by-step instructions for the registration portal, if you need them:

  1. Fill in the requested Additional Information.

  2. Type 1 in the Quantity field and click the Add to Cart button.

Note: If you are attending in person and are a student/unemployed/LMI, you will enter the discount code student in the Discount Code field on the Payment page. This will reduce your payment to $80.

If you are attending virtually, you will enter the discount code virtual in the Discount Code field on the Payment page. This will reduce your payment to $100.

If you are attending virtually and are a student/unemployed/LMI, you will enter the discount code student_virtual in the Discount Code field on the Payment page. This will reduce your payment to $60.

Similar (but slightly different) codes are also available for the membership fees.

  1. Click the Checkout button.

  2. Click the Check Out as Guest (Quick Checkout) button.

  3. Fill in your Billing information and any discount code, and then click the reCaptcha “I’m not a robot.” box.

  4. Click the Continue with Credit button. [The Purchase Order option is not valid for the ALT conference.]

  5. Continue the checkout by filling in your credit card information.
