Presentations and Posters

Both in-person and virtual modes are available for presentations and for posters. However, please be aware that our capacity for offering a robust virtual experience is limited.

Please see virtual participation for further information.

Certificates will be made available within about 1 week of the conference, via an online folder, for all talk/poster (co-)authors. The link to the folder will be sent out by email.

Presentations:

Presentations will last 20 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for questions and 5 minutes for room changes.

In-person presentations:

  • In each session room (see Venue), you will find a computer and a projector for your presentations. Please upload your presentation on the room computer before the beginning of your session during the break. If you prefer to bring your own laptops, you are welcome to do so but please remember to bring whatever adaptor your computer requires for the projector.

  • If you plan to use handouts, we suggest around 40. We are not able to print these for you, but several copy centers are located around the UT campus where you can print your handouts (see a list here).

Virtual presentations:

  • Our setup allows for live presentation of virtual talks, followed by questions. However, you may also pre-record your talk; if you do this, please send your file to the conference organizers at alt2022@austin.utexas.edu by Tuesday December 13 (and to the organizers of your workshop, if relevant).

  • The virtual platform will involve online streaming and presentations via zoom. Please make sure that you have the latest version of zoom installed and running smoothly if you plan to present virtually.

Posters:

Two poster sessions will be held, in-person and virtual. In-person poster presenters are welcome to also participate in the virtual session (with a virtual version of their poster).

In-person poster session (Dec. 15):

  • Recommended poster size: 36 X 48 inches / 90 x 120 cm, portrait orientation.

  • On-site poster printing is available through UT Copy Services:

      • Send the poster file as a PDF to utcopy@austin.utexas.edu, with information about format, size, and the date you will pick it up (request must be sent at least 3 business days before the deadline).

      • Options:

1. 36"x48" economy matte poster, unmounted (paper only), $48

2. 36"x48" standard matte poster, unmounted (paper only), $84

  • Payment can be made via a secure, online link generated through Shopify, or in person when picking up the poster (if you pay at pickup, the order cannot exceed $50).

Virtual poster session (Dec. 16):

  • The session will take place in GatherTown, an interactive virtual space.

  • Please send your poster file to the conference organizers (alt2022@austin.utexas.edu) by Dec. 7, 2022.

  • Technical information for virtual posters:

      • Must be a .png or .jpg file

      • Use a 16:9 aspect ratio: Minimum width is 1000 px (24.46 cm), Minimum height is 600 px (15.88 cm)

        • Landscape is preferable to view the full image, but portrait can be used with scrolling.

        • You can use PowerPoint, Canva, or another third-party application to design and save a 16:9 image.

        • You can use the same file for the preview image, but for the best view, we recommend an image that is half the width and height of the image.

      • Maximum file size is 3 MB.

      • Do not use a transparent background.
