This was my second independent model rocket and my attempt at an L2 certification. It was launched for the first time at Pine Island, NY in May of 2026.

The custom 3D printed nosecone is made from PLA with the infill adjusted so it resulted in the correct mass.
The paint job was a collaborative effort between myself and two of my friends. I'd first painted the body tube purple with bright blue fins and nosecone. Then, one of them mentioned how the color scheme reminded them of the SpongeBob seascape, and the decision was made to paint some SpongeBob-esque flowers on the airframe. In the picture there are less flowers on it than there are now, as we ran out of time to finish painting on the night before launch. I went back with another friend and completed it later that week. Adding these little details makes me want to have more elaborate paint jobs on future rockets, turning them into works of art as well as feats of engineering.
Flower Power was launched and recovered successfully with no damage! It landed softly in the muddy fields of the Pine Island launch site and earned me my NAR L2 certification. Its actual apogee will have to remain a mystery until I launch it again because I couldn't find an altimeter to put inside it. However, it will go down in history at Tufts Rocketry's 124th recorded launch!
