Shared writing takes place –“I do, We do, You do” principle. Teacher models good writing behaviour. A lot of demonstration should take place. Focus on sentence structure/formation. Scrabble sentences, use sentence starters, Use conjunctions, focus on sequencing, use graphic organisers to plan writing, formulating a paragraph, use of punctuation marks. Use word wall, posters & alphabet charts, use dictionaries (multilingual dictionaries if possible), introduce figures of speech, address grammar rules. Cooperation of learners is important – This should be learner-centered activities.
