3D Printer with Induction-based Heater

In this project, I designed and fabricated a 3D printer with a induction-based heater. The system contains a head attached to a 3DOF CNC machine. The head contains a copper coil, a filament feed mechanism, a set of capacitors, an electronic board, and a cooling system. First, I modeled and analyzed the induction heating process in COMSOL and determined the proper size for the coil and the amount of water cooling required. Then I fabricated the head and assembled it on 3DOF CNC machine.
