Science Festival Materials

These are all the materials that I use in my fire ecology science festival stand. It consists of 3 parts:

Posterboard, with information and 3 Pokemon cards you collect as I talk through the info and fire ecology basics
Who's that organism game, 4 envelopes each with a different Pokemon card inside that you can collect as you play the game.
Treevia, a tree identification workshop where you make measurements of different trees and match them up to tree poems (written by yours truly!).

Science festivals I've participated in:

The science festival organizers were kind enough to let me run a pine cone microwaving demo so students could see a real time example of a fire adaptation. Huge thanks to my team for collectively collecting >200 pine cones from Spain, France, and Italy and bringing them to Brussels!

Science is Wonderful! 2025

Brussels, Belgium | March 12-14, 2025

Science is Wonderful! is a European Commission funded science festival showcasing researchers funded by Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The festival sees some 5000 primary and secondary school children across Brussels. We delivered our stand in English, French, Italian, and Flemish with the help of the amazing translators!

Royal Norfolk Show 2024

The Royal Norfolk Show is an annual agricultural show held by the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association every year since 1847. Each year some 80,000 people attend!

Our stand was in STEMM Village, where primary and secondary school kids could come explore all the science stands in the tent!
