Update page
Visit this page often for updates and announcements from the P&C
This will be especially useful for people who are not on Facebook where a lot of our communications have traditionally been published
(Note this is not an official school communications channel. All school enquiries must be directed to the school administration team)
The Algester P&C Association works to raise funds to buy infrastructure and services to donate back to the school. We also liaise with the local and school communities to host various events and initiatives throughout the school calendar year with the aim of supporting various ongoing donations including:
Prep year gifts
Year 6 Graduation
School murals
Chaplain program
Principal's Afternoon Tea
RISE Program (for family support)
The P&C Executive and Committee support a small core of paid business unit employees. Each year the Executive is vacated and interested parties can nominate or be nominated to take on a leadership role. Applications to join the P&C can be made at any point with new members being voted upon and confirmed at the monthly general meetings.
Into 2025, the P&C will continue its work to raise dollars for the major project in the works; The Shade Project. We have committed to donate over $150k toward a shade structure to go over the no standing over 2 minutes, no-parking 'Stop, Drop and Go Zone' on Endiandra Street.
The shade will be to protect children from the elements all year round while they wait for their parent/caregiver to pull up for pick up.
This project will cost $550,000 and has been 18 months in the making. Necessary parties from the Department of Education, Department of Infrastructure and Facilities, and the Building and Construction Project Managers were brought together so we could initiate the following items for the project to move forward:
Building permissions
Architectural designs
Engineer approvals
Grant application
With the final approvals and grant submitted, we await confirmation during Term 1 2025 (we hope!), with approval and co-funding by Government for the construction to begin soon after. It's an exciting time and will produce tangible results from the hard work and generosity of the P&C team and all of our volunteers and benefactors over the last few years. We know the shade structure will add value to the school environment and bring benefit to current and future students.
Thank you for your ongoing support and contributions!
The P&C has a monthly meeting on the third Tuesday of each month during term time.
Meetings kick off at 6pm and are held in the Algester State School Staff Room (admin block), or when notified, in the AMAC next to the Library. Everyone is welcome and this is your chance to hear about activities and events planned for the coming year.
Parents and Citizens can attend the meetings and if you like, can also join for the year - becoming a member allows you to vote on various motions put forward to direct the progress of our team. You don't have to be a member to attend, but if you'd like to join the P&C and have access to voting rights and minutes of the meetings, please submit your 2025 Membership application here.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held March 2025. The Executive for the 2025/26 year is posted on our 'People' page. There is one (1) role vacant within the team. If you'd like to be involved, please see the position descriptions on the 'people' page or contact the current president, Simone on president@algesterpandc.com.au

Drakes Community Dollars
Thank you to everyone who continues to choose the Algester State School P&C Association as the recipient of their Drakes Supermarket Community Dollars.
For doing no more than scanning the Drakes app (or keytag) when you do your groceries, Drakes will donate 1c for every $1 spent.
The amount at the end of December 2024 showed nearly $800 earmarked for Algester P&C - amazing!
Drakes have changed the program slightly and the cycle will now go from July - July so we look forward to seeing what the next 6 months brings.
We use these dollars to help fund things like the Principal's Afternoon Tea - which is a special honour for students to attend, and to supplement tuckshop stock purchases and supplies for various events - which helps keep overall costs down.
So, if you do your groceries at the local Drake's supermarket - or have relatives who shop at their local store - please consider activating the Community Dollars app and scanning each time a purchase is made. Every little bit helps!

Our beautiful new mural
Over the school break artist, Jenny Kent from Manamana Dreaming, created a wonderful reconciliation mural. Students and community members contributed by adding fingerprints to the mural and each afternoon small crowds gather to admire the newest colourful addition to our school environment
This video from the artist explains the meaning of the mural's details
