Update page
Visit this page often for updates and announcements from the P&C
This will be especially useful for people who are not on Facebook where a lot of our communications have traditionally been published
We also suggest families download the 'School Stream' app to ensure you never miss important information and updates from us and the school/
(Note this is not an official school communications channel. All school enquiries must be directed to the school administration team)
The Algester P&C Association works to raise funds to buy infrastructure and services to donate back to the school. We also liaise with the local and school communities to host various events and initiatives throughout the school calendar year with the aim of supporting various ongoing donations including:
Prep year gifts
Year 6 Graduation
School murals
Chaplain program
Principal's Afternoon Tea
RISE Program (for family support)
The P&C Executive and Committee support a small core of paid business unit employees. Each year the Executive is vacated and interested parties can nominate or be nominated to take on a leadership role. Applications to join the P&C can be made at any point with new members being voted upon and confirmed at the monthly general meetings.
Thank you for your ongoing support and contributions!
The P&C has a monthly meeting on the third Tuesday of each month during term time.
Meetings kick off at 6pm and are held in the Algester State School Staff Room (admin block), or when notified, in the AMAC next to the Library. Everyone is welcome and this is your chance to hear about activities and events planned for the coming year.
Parents and Citizens can attend the meetings and if you like, can also join for the year - becoming a member allows you to vote on various motions put forward to direct the progress of our team. You don't have to be a member to attend, but if you'd like to join the P&C and have access to voting rights and minutes of the meetings, please submit your 2026 Membership application here.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held March 2025. The Executive for the 2025/26 year is posted on our 'People' page. There is one (1) role vacant within the team. If you'd like to be involved, please see the position descriptions on the 'people' page or contact the current president, Simone on president@algesterpandc.com.au
The next General Monthly Meetings are scheduled for:
2026
Tues 17.2.26 6pm - hybrid meeting
Tues 17.3.26 6pm - Annual General Meeting, then followed by monthly general meeting
Lots in the pipeline for this year at Algester!
The Events calendar for 2026 is below (dates may be subject to change). The P&C runs events throughout the year to:
encourage school community
raise funds to donate back to the school
provide opportunities for fun times
Throughout the year various call outs for voluteers will pop up in your feed. It's essential we get sufficient helpers at these events to ensure they can continue safely and efficiently.

Drakes Community Dollars
Thank you to everyone who continues to choose the Algester State School P&C Association as the recipient of their Drakes Supermarket Community Dollars.
For doing no more than scanning the Drakes app (or keytag) when you do your groceries, Drakes will donate 1c for every $1 spent.
The amount at the end of December 2024 showed nearly $800 earmarked for Algester P&C, and this was nearly doubled by July 2025 - amazing!
Drakes have changed the program slightly and the cycle now goes from July - July. Already, in January 2025, we're on track to meet or beat the 2025 result.
FYI: We use these dollars to help fund things like the Principal's Afternoon Tea - which is a special honour for students to attend, and to supplement tuckshop stock purchases and supplies for various events - which helps keep overall costs down.
So, if you do your groceries at the local Drake's supermarket - or have relatives who shop at their local store - please consider activating the Community Dollars app and scanning each time a purchase is made. Every little bit helps!
