The COVID-19 pandemic began in the middle of the spring semester in 2020. BioMedomics had developed a rapid detection test for COVID-19 and was looking for interns to help with manufacturing at the start of spring break.

Coincidentally, I had just canceled my spring break plans and was available to help immediately. I joined and helped put together test kits during my first few days and quickly took on more responsibility. At one point I was helping coordinate a team of more than 15 interns to put together kits under tight deadlines.
