I started Video Editing in the summer before seventh grade. At that point, like many people my age, I had been playing a ton of video games. When I wasn't playing video games, I was on YouTube watching other people play video games. It was bad. However, it got me interested in the prospect of becoming a video game youtuber.
I recorded my gameplay by myself or with friends and began editing very basic cuts with voiceover and occasionally some music in the background. Eventually, I found myself playing one game more than any other - Fortnite Battle Royale. I had so much free time and sunk so many hours, that I was playing at the professional level at 12 years old. I was winning money in tournaments, occasionally going to LAN (in person) events to compete, and I loved it.
My usual video content transitioned into making dramatic edits of my Fortnite gameplay with "cool" music synced to the cuts. I never gained too much of a viewership, however I really enjoyed it. Soon enough, when in my school we were tasked with making short films and videos, I already had all the video editing skills I needed to make basic movies.
Since then, my skills have only improved as I've taken on more elaborate projects and films, of my own creation and occasionally for other clients/friends.
