Life’s dance thrums a visceral chant
we pull on, zip-up and cuff
and the future swarms our every cell
A travelogue of flip-flop, flick-book
echoes and beats, it
rides out of town, out of body
forgetful as enchantment
By sweet grass Suzuki clucks
Iridium, blue, rainbow-eyed
the quiet throat still threatening,
the paws in eager pose
Spider-crack walls
broadside the nail-scissored hillside
neatly littered with plaited pellets
and black rabbit marbles
A broken-jawed "clacky-baa"
leads a brief scurry of wig-wight clouds
whose contemplation resumes
amid scattered stones and magpie clones
Distant birds converse
and our non-verbal agreement
gravitates onwards
(I hold the brake as you climb up behind)
Some say it starts when the cradle is rocked
others think we’re running away
And as the heat-haze shimmers
from Suzuki’s soul
our hearts re-set and glide, beyond what others wonder
per adua ad astra
