I am currently based at ISTA as a postdoc, my project focused on using causal-learning to understand the drivers that control the lifetime of the clouds. During my Ph.D. at the ICTP, I developed a project focused on two objectives: i) understanding the underlying processes of the physical parameterizations that develop or prevent convective self-aggregation (CSA) and ii) Seeking organization and random convection in nature, and understanding the processes that lead to or prevent it. To do it I gained experience in the use of idealized models (RCE and Mlawer radiation model), realistic simulations, multiple satellite sources, and machine learning techniques.
As a second topic, I focus on the study of air pollution using ground-base stations, reanalysis, and satellite data. My work has focused on understanding the processes that lead to high pollution events in Colombia, and the role of chemical reactions and meteorology in the increase of pollution. I have designed models to account for ozone changes, and also a Lagrangian tracker to quantify the amount of pollution produce in cities due to LRT.
