In the summer months there is no place like Alaska. Titled the last frontier, you will find yourself immersed in one of the most beautiful places the United States has to offer. From sailing into "the small drinking town, with a fishing problem," Homer. To cruising along Glacier Bay, for a jaw dropping scene few people ever get to see. Then riding on the famous Alaskan Railroad, and hoping to get a picture of the tallest mountain in North America, Denali. Alaska is truly a once in a life time experience. This site is to help paint a picture, and encourage you to "go north, to Alaska!"
- Ketchikan is an Alaskan city facing the Inside Passage, a popular cruise route along the state's southeastern coast. It's known for its many Native American totem poles, on display throughout town. Nearby Misty Fiords National Monument is a glacier-carved wilderness featuring snowcapped mountains, waterfalls and salmon spawning streams. It's also home to rich wildlife including black bears, wolves and bald eagles.
- Juneau, Alaska’s remote capital, sits in the state’s panhandle, at the base of 3,819-ft. Mt. Roberts. It’s a popular cruise-ship stop, reachable only by boat or seaplane. A tram carries visitors 1,800 feet up Mt. Roberts to an alpine area with hiking trails, wildflowers and views of Gastineau Channel. This is also the site of the Juneau Raptor Center, dedicated to local birds.
- Skagway is a compact city in southeast Alaska, set along the popular cruise route the Inside Passage. It's home to many gold-rush-era buildings, now preserved as part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad runs vintage locomotives past the famously steep Chilkoot trail and offers sweeping mountain views during its climb toward Canada.
- One of the most beautiful parts of any cruise Alaska has to offer. Glacier bay is going to amaze everyone who is lucky enough to cruise past it.
- Situated at the head of Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula, Seward is one of Alaska’s oldest and most scenic communities. Experience trophy sport fishing, glacier and wildlife cruises, sailing, hiking, kayaking, flight seeing, summer dog sled rides, and more.
- Arriving in Homer is like opening one of those pop-up greeting cards – an unexpected thrill. Three miles before Homer, the Sterling Highway provides a few teasers that whet a visitor's appetite but never fully prepare them for the charming, colorful town that lies ahead. As the road makes a final turn east along the bluffs overlooking Kachemak Bay, Homer unfolds completely. It's a truly incredible panorama of mountains, white peaks, glaciers and the famous Homer Spit, a long strip of land that stretches into that beautiful deep blue bay.
- Typically your first or last port, if cruising with Princess or Holland America. Whittier is a neat little town with an interesting history. As you cruise in on your ship, or you are traveling through a tunnel carved through a mountain, on a train or in a car, Whittier will not disappoint
- The largest city in Alaska, and accounts for half of the state's population. You will find yourself in a little city, with a lot to explore. From downtown Anchorage, to planning a trip to Girdwood, or Flattop mountain, you will not find the time to complete everything, and you will find yourself wanting to come back for more.
- Hubbard Glacier made history in 1986 when it advanced more than 100 feet in a single day, blocking off Russell Fjord. The ice dam was eventually opened, but Hubbard Glacier continues to surge forward today. Its home, Yukatat Bay, is a haven for wildlife.
- The base camp for Denali climbers. Talkeetna is a tiny town, that loves catering to tourists in the summer. The town sits right along the train tracks, and is the starting point of the only flag stop train left in the United States.
- Probably Alaska's most famous national park. Denali is 6 million acres with its key attraction Denali Mountain. Formally known as Mt. McKinley, the mountain was finally changed back to its Native name in 2015. The national park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, doll sheep, and caribou.
- The largest city of the interior of Alaska, Fairbanks is home to Eielson Airforce Base. Despite being further north than Anchorage, Fairbanks will actually be warmer in the summer hitting temperatures into the 100's, and dropping down to -60 in the winter.
- Located in the southeastern part of Alaska and along the coast, Icy Strait gives you a peek inside the beautiful and diverse Alaskan wildlife.
- One of the most beautiful modern cities, with many sites, parks and dining experiences.
