Talkeetna

If you remember the show Northern Exposure, then you will find yourself in the town the show is based on. Talkeetna is a very quirky town, with fun around every corner. Great local food is just walking distance away from the train. A down town that can be walked in about 10 minutes. Since it is the base camp for Denali, you can head to the river, and get a wonderful view of the mountain (if it is out). With plenty of excursions such as flight seeing tours, zipline tours, and river boat tours, you will have plenty to do. Make sure to find the town mayor. He loves a nice bowl of warm milk, and his belly rubbed.
