This is what we all used to brainstorm all of our ideas for what we wanted our capstone projects to be and the theme that we wanted to focus on.
My capstone project is titled "iLive." It is a social campaign meant to influence the way that people use technology and look at technology as a part of their life. My campaign included a documentary and posters, as well as other aspects like data visualization and infographics.
iLive is a play on the name iPhone, since it is one of the most popular phone brands, as a way of emphasizing the importance of living life away from your phone. This is not an attack campaign against iPhones or phones in general. This campaign was created to spread awareness about phone dependency as a way to promote a healthier and more fulfilled lifestyle. This is especially important being that technology is so much a part of the everyday life. Self control is necessary to prevent technology from consuming not only society, but the future generations.

The purpose of the video is to demonstrate awareness of the effect that phones have on one’s personal health in all aspects, providing an outside perspective where one might be blinded. The audience of the project are all populations (phone users) since phones seem to have to be used in order for people to feel like they can survive in this day and age. The audience will especially highlight people ages 6-25 because they are the people who mostly grew up with advanced technology and is a part of the society that is heavily dependent on technology. The narrative is to live life fruitfully and understand that using your phone, time continues on without you, so to have more self control.
I chose this idea because there is so much life to live, and we only have one chance to live and I have seen signs of wasting that time away through constant phone use. Everyone gives so much attention to their phones that they don't realize they are wasting their life away and that is what I wanted to be presented through this poster. This way, it can influence the audience to focus less on their phone and more on themselves, and influence others to do the same.
This poster is meant to bring more pathos to the campaign, showing what it feels to be stuck with phone addiction or dependency.
This picture shows someone who is stuck in the grasps of their phone to where they can't escape because the more you constantly spend hours on your phone, the more trapped you become.
The title of this poster is "iLive Fruitfully" which is a reference to the campaign as well as the campaign logo that is also displayed in the poster. It is meant to push viewers to live more fruitfully instead of being confined to your phone.
The flood of the campaign logo displayed at the bottom of the poster is making the phone unstable, and this is meant to symbolize how when you choose to focus on your life more than your phone, when you choose your life first, you become closer to finding self control in your life and ridding yourself of phone dependency.
This is my data visualization where there are quick facts about my social campaign.
This is my infographic where people can get a quick sense and understanding of what my campaign is about, understanding its mission, goals, vision, values, and what it truly stands for. Here, you can also see the logo for my campaign.
These are all aspects of my campaign website that I was previously working on. The website contains my capstone projects, a deeper look and understanding of all my projects and the campaign itself, and a challenge that I created to help people be less dependent on social media and their phone. I plan on continuing my website and completing it with all my research about phone use.
If you want to read about the ways that excessive phone use could physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially effect you, take a look at my research document I used for my campaign. It also includes the links to articles and websites to the information and quotes if you want to take a deeper look yourself.
