This project explored how artificial intelligence can support architectural concept design through a structured workflow involving research, concept generation, visualization, diagram development, and presentation design. Throughout the process, I used several AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, DALL·E, and Canva AI, while maintaining human judgment as the primary decision-making element.
The first stage involved concept exploration using ChatGPT, which generated multiple architectural ideas based on the project brief. This allowed me to quickly compare different possibilities before selecting Architecture as Cognitive Recovery as the most suitable concept. I chose this concept because it addresses the growing issue of digital overload and mental fatigue while providing strong opportunities for architectural storytelling, spatial experiences, and visual development.
Claude was then used to conduct deeper research into the topic. One aspect I found particularly useful was its ability to generate a comprehensive research document that combined theories, precedent studies, sustainability strategies, and supporting evidence into a single report. This helped establish a stronger academic foundation for the project and made the research process much more efficient.
DALL·E played a significant role in transforming the concept into visual representations. The generated images were visually appealing and realistic, helping to communicate the atmosphere and architectural character of the project. I especially appreciated the ability to generate multiple perspectives of the same design, including aerial, courtyard, interior, and entrance views. These images helped me better visualize the project and understand it as a complete architectural experience.
Finally, Canva AI assisted in organizing the workflow into a professional presentation format. It helped structure the information, create layouts, and maintain visual consistency throughout the slides. This allowed me to focus more on refining the content and communicating the design process effectively.
Overall, this project demonstrated that AI can significantly improve efficiency during the early stages of architectural design by supporting research, idea generation, visualization, and communication. However, it also highlighted the importance of human judgment in evaluating outputs, refining ideas, and making final design decisions. Rather than replacing the architect, AI acted as a creative assistant that expanded possibilities and accelerated the workflow while leaving critical thinking and design responsibility in human hands.
