Hi, everyone! I’m Samantha Soliveres, but you can call me Soli! I love different types of music, ranging from P-pop/OPM to English country music, K-Pop, anime songs, game music, and even Disney songs! But amidst the diverse genres of music, I love how music is used to convey certain messages, emotions, or help with storytelling. Some of my favorite artists are SB19, Taylor Swift, Seventeen, Hoshimachi Suisei, Yuika, Riria, Yuuri, Honeyworks, Goose House, and Uru! I love how these artists produce their songs as if they’re telling a story, and how the melodies and the way they sing the lyrics carry emotions – especially SB19’s songs like Mapa, Nyebe, Ilaw, and their recent song Quit! I know that’s a lot listed as my favorites, but there’s more since we haven’t started talking about music I’m fond of in shows or games.
If we’re talking about game music, Arknights and Zenless Zone Zero stood out to me the most due to how the soundtrack helps me immerse myself in the story or the characters’ personalities through their theme music. While the recent music in shows I loved listening to is To Be Hero X’s OST, like Inertia, Kontinuum, My Colour, and Sawano Hiroyuki’s track, which were satisfying to play on repeat due to their beat drops!
While I do love music, I can’t say that I have too many experiences of handling audio aside from casual video edits from academic or tasks in our organization. On another note, I’m really interested to learn more about sound design and understanding the equipment used in this field, as I think it’s really complicated but also enjoyable to know. Well, that’s it from me, and looking forward to having an enjoyable yet productive term with you all!
