Scheduled Flights

Eastern Airways

Eastern Airways (T3/EZE, callsign 'Eastflight'), who are based at Humberside Airport, offer three routes from Humberside Airport as off July 2023

Flights to Aberdeen and Newquay use Jetstream 41's, with an ATR-72-600 used to service the Jersey route.

Pre COVID-19, the Aberdeen route was operated three times a day Monday to Thursday, twice on Fridays and once on a Sunday, with reductions to the schedule during holiday periods. Weekday flights were operated by a variety of aircraft including Jetstream 41's, Saab 2000's and Embraer 145's. Sunday flights used an ATR-72-600 with an en-route stop at Teesside Airport. The service was reduced to once per day, Monday to Friday, with a Jetstream 41 in late March 2020 but kept operating throughout the pandemic - the only Eastern Airways scheduled service to do so. At times during the pandemic, the route operated via Teesside, and had spells of being flown by an Embraer 135 or 145.  From September 2021 to July 2022 the Sunday Aberdeen service was routed via Newcastle before converting to non-stop operation in August 2022.

The Aberdeen route has been long established at Humberside and is mainly used for business travel related to the oil and gas industry. For many years, Air UK operated the flights through Teesside and Edinburgh airports, but after purchase by KLM in the late 1990's, pulled off the route. British Airways Regional then started a once daily non-stop flight but more frequent flights from then-start up carrier Eastern Airways led to them quickly ending the service. Aberdeen was Eastern's first route, starting in late 1997 and initially using aircraft and support provided by Icelandic airline Islandsflug. Eastern have operated it ever since, although during the early 2000's there was also a competing service from Gama Aviation.

The Jersey service was new to Eastern Airways in 2021, and is operated in association with tour operator Premier Holidays (CI Travel Group were also involved in 2021 and 2022). Jersey has historically been served from Humberside by carriers including Air Anglia, Air Southwest, Air UK and VLM, on both a charter and scheduled basis. From 2009 to 2018 Jersey was operated as a scheduled service by Flybe, mostly using Dash 8 Q400's, but with the occasional Embraer 175 also used. In 2019 the route was taken over by Loganair using Embraer 145's, still on a scheduled basis, who were also due to operate in 2020 until the COVID-19 pandemic led to the route having a year of not being served.

Humberside to Newquay was first commenced by Eastern Airways in 2022, when it operated twice weekly from 1st April to 19th September.  For 2023 the frequency was doubled to four times per week, albeit with a later start on 28th April; however an en-route stop at East Midlands was introduced in July.

Since commencing operations, Eastern Airways has grown it's network significantly. In 1999 it purchased Air Kilroe and in 2003 it took over a selection of routes and Jetstream 41's from BA Citi Express. Air Southwest of Plymouth was purchased in 2010 and gradually integrated into Eastern Airways, though all inherited routes were dropped by 2013. In February 2014 Bristow Helicopters purchased a 60% stake in Eastern Airways, increased to 100% in early 2018, before purchase by former joint owner Richard Lake in May 2019. Today the airline operates a mix of scheduled, charter and contract flights with a fleet off Jetstream 41's, Embraer 170's, Embraer 190's and ATR-72-600's. Jetstream 31's, Jetstream 32's, Saab 2000's, Embraer 135's and Embraer 145's were also previously operated, along with Dash 8 Q300's inherited with the purchase of Air Southwest.

From Sunday 27th October 2017 to Wednesday 4th March 2020, Eastern Airways flew it's scheduled network, including Humberside to Aberdeen, under a franchise agreement with Flybe. Following Flybe's collapse, Eastern Airways resumed operating their scheduled services independently under their own brand.

On 14th December 2022 Eastern Airways commenced a thrice weekly service to Esbjerg, operating on Monday, Wednesday (Thursday in July) and Friday with a Jetstream 41. Sadly the final flight operated on 17th July 2023.

KLM

KLM Cityhopper (WA/KLC, callsign 'City'), operate the key route to Amsterdam on behalf of parent KLM. The route operates 19-20 times a week, with three daily flights on weekdays, two flights on a Saturday and either two or three flights every Sunday. Embraer 175's are used to operate the service. The route caters for local traffic to Amsterdam and feeds KLM's major hub at the airport for worldwide connections.

The route was the first to be operated from the airport when it opened in 1975. Then the airline was Air Anglia, who became part of Air UK in 1980. Air UK continued to operate the route, under a codeshare with KLM, until takeover by KLM in the late 1990's. Air UK was rebranded as KLM UK but otherwise operations remained unchanged until KLM merged KLM UK into KLM Cityhopper.
