At the outset, I heartily congratulate team Obstetrics & Gynaecology for continuing the new concept of imparting education, upgrading, and updating knowledge in the form of an E- newsletter, aptly entitled as Speculum. The department has been providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, along with awareness and counselling, to women and family members since its inception.
This E-newsletter is a confident amalgamation of creativity, innovation, and the desire to spread the latest academic information to students and colleagues of OBG fraternity in all the arenas of women’s health. AIIMS Gorakhpur is slowly emerging as the leader in the field of patient care, medical teaching, and research in the region, and this E-newsletter is a novel and excellent initiative in this direction, fulfilling the institute’s motto. It has opened up vast vistas of new possibilities in digital teaching and learning methods. I am glad to state that this communication will be available on the official website of AIIMS Gorakhpur and remain accessible to the entire medical fraternity as well as the general public. I invite all readers to join this initiative and submit your entries to the editorial team for future issues. I once again congratulate the whole team and hope this will prove to be a milestone in the digital journey of AIIMS Gorakhpur as well as the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dear friends, colleagues & students,
It is a moment of immense pleasure for us to share with all of you the first E-bulletin of Obstetrics & Gynaecology “OBG Speculum"; volume -2 from the halls of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Gorakhpur. The aim is to provide updated information to OBG practitioners in regard to all relevant subsections like High-risk pregnancy & Labour, General Gynaecology, Family planning, Oncology, Imaging, and Pharmaceuticals including Surgical videos for Undergraduates and Postgraduates to help learn in a better way. Under Health days section Cervical cancer is chosen this time as January is nominated as awareness month while 4 th Feb is celebrated as World Cancer day. The ‘Ethics’ & ‘Guidelines’ section persisting to help improvise the practice and the 'History’ section pays tribute to great medical scientists.
It will now be a regular phenomenon, and every 6-monthly a new issue of the E-bulletin ‘Speculum’ will come up covering relevant practical use articles in day-to-day practice, guidelines and some fun liners. The goal of this E-bulletin series is to improve the health of women by refreshing and updating the knowledge of medical professionals working in this field or planning to opt for it. We expect critical feedback from our readers so that this bulletin can be further improvised.
