National Association for Gifted Students (NAGC)
The NAGC is the nation's leading organization that focuses on gifted students and their needs. This organization focuses on providing professional learning, research, and advocacy for gifted students to ensure all students receive equitable opportunities and experiences to support the development of their giftedness and talent.
Pitt County Schools AIG Website
This website discusses Pitt County Schools' focus on AIG students. It provides the county's philosophy, information on AIG students for all grade levels, resources, and more. This is a very beneficial website if your student attends a Pitt County school.
North Carolina Association for the Gifted and Talented
The NCAGT is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the educational and social-emotional needs of academically and/or intellectually gifted students. It contains resources for educators, parents, and gifted students.
Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education
The local affiliates of the NCAGT are the Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education (PAGE). PAGE groups consist of teachers, parents, and other individuals who desire to help in the area of gifted education. The link above takes you to a website through the NCAGT that describes PAGE's standards and steps on how to start a PAGE chapter. It also includes a link to the PAGE chapter application. This organization's affiliates are an excellent resource for educators and parents to be involved with.
World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC)
The WCGTC is a worldwide nonprofit organization that provides advocacy and support for gifted children. This organization is diverse and provides a network around the globe for educators, scholars, researchers, parents, and others interested in the development and education of gifted and talented children of all ages.
Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG)
SENG was founded by Dr. James T. Webb in 1981 after a young gifted student took his life. SENG is a nonprofit organization that was founded to empower families and communities to assist and guide gifted students to reach their goals academically, socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually.
North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI): AIG
The NCDPI is in charge of implementing the public school laws for North Carolina. NCDPI has a section of its website dedicated to AIG students. This website discusses a large variety of information that is important to gifted education. It discusses definitions, budgets, program standards, district and region plans, student data, and resources available.
NCDPI: North Carolina School Report Cards
Through the NCDPI, NC School Report Cards provides a yearly report card for every public school in North Carolina with information about school- and district-level data in a number of areas. These include student performance and academic growth, school and student characteristics, and many other details.
