General Information
Global Citizenship Day is an annual event at AICS dedicated to raising awareness about sustainability, environmental issues, and global citizenship. Students participate in workshops, field trips, and hands-on activities to learn how they can make a positive impact on the planet and community.
The event will take place on July 8th, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM*.
*Some year groups end earlier/later, you can check what time you will end in the schedule
The event will take place at AICS South & South-East campuses*, with some activities held at external locations like Zee Aquarium Bergen aan Zee and National Park Zuid-Kennemerland.
*Group 7, Fireflies, MYP1, MYP4, MYP5, DP1 & CP1 to South, MYP3 to South-East, and MYP5 to AMS Institute (Building 027W, Kattenburgerstraat 5, 1018 JA Amsterdam)
Students are encouraged to wear blue and green to show their support for sustainability or wear their their traditional clothing of their country.
All students are automatically registered for the event. However, workshops require separate sign-ups. Check the Workshops page on the website for details.
Yes, Global Citizenship Day is a school event, and all students are expected to attend unless they have a valid reason for absence (e.g., illness).
Workshops and Activities
You can sign up for workshops that are displayed on the Workshops page. Check the page for details on how to register for your preferred workshops.
Deadline for signing up is 20th June 2025, if you do not sign up before this deadline, you will be added to any available workshop.
If a workshop is full, no more students can be added to it. There are other exciting workshops to participate in!
Workshops are fixed to ensure smooth organization, therefore it is not possible to switch after 20th June 2025.
After signing up, you will be sent an automatic confirmation email with which workshop you signed up for.

All workshops are free, all costs are covered by the school.
Trips
Trips outside of school are planned for:
MYP4
DP1 + CP1
Transportation will be arranged by the school. Details about departure times and meeting points are available in the schedule for your year group. Transportation is only needed for MYP4 and DP1 + CP1.
Bring a packed lunch, water bottle, comfortable shoes, and items specified by the schedule.
Yes, teachers and staff will supervise students during field trips to ensure safety and organization.
For Students
You should bring the following:

*Group 1-6 and MYP4's do not need to bring their MacBook
Yes! The ones you can sign up for are displayed on the Workshops page. Check the page for details on how to register for your preferred workshops.

Food will not be provided to students, students are expected to bring their own food. Please note for Lunch that you bring your cultural food. Cordaan will only be serving snacks and drinks.
Yes, you can bring snacks or drinks. Remember to dispose of any waste responsibly.
Yes, you can bring your phone, but it should only be used during appropriate times (e.g., taking photos). Misuse of phones may result in them being confiscated.
MacBooks are required for some parts of the day, but Group 1-6 and MYP4 students do not need to bring them. Check your schedule for details.
For Parents
Parents are welcome only for drop off and picking up, please check the time your child ends. We are looking for parent volunteers!
We are looking for volunteers! Please email e.conduto@aics.espritscholen.nl if you are interested!
The event ends at 3:30 PM*, with students free to leave or be picked up after this time.
*Some year groups end earlier/later, you can check what time your child will end in the schedule
Parking is as always.
For South: Parking outside the campus.
For South East: 20 minutes maximum in the underground garage.
For Teachers
Teachers will act as supervisors and facilitators for their assigned groups. You’ll help guide students through activities and ensure everyone stays on schedule. For certain activities you will be with your mentor class.
The schedule and duty list for teachers is available on the Teacher Portal which can be accessed with the code entered in For Teachers page.
Miscellaneous
Unfortunately, the event is only for AICS students. However, we encourage you to share what you’ve learned with friends and family!
No, it is not possible to take part in different year group's activities or workshops.
Post-Event
