Overview

The Teftiş Kurulu Başkanlığı is the Inspectorship General within Türkiye’s Ministry of National Education (Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı, or MEB). It serves as an independent oversight body responsible for ensuring education institutions and the Ministry itself operate in compliance with laws, regulations, and strategic goals.

Mission and Duties

• Conducts inspections, examinations, and investigations across the Ministry’s central administration, provincial directorates, and affiliated organizations on behalf of the Minister.

• Provides recommendations and reports to improve institutional functioning, align practices with regulations, and foster effective implementation of education policies.

•  Professional development by guiding and overseeing inspectors and assistant inspectors in their roles.

Organizational Structure

• Led by the Inspectorship General (Teftiş Kurulu Başkanı), supported by Deputy Inspectors, inspectors, and assistant inspectors.

• Operates independently and reports directly to the Minister of National Education; no external authority can issue commands to its staff besides the Minister and the head.

• Headquarters are located in Ankara, with potential regional working centers established in cities like Istanbul or İzmir, subject to Ministerial approval
