AHS Students for Club Reform (AHSSCR) advocates for club equity, a more transparent ASB, and streamlined club guidelines that are not obstacles to club growth. We stand to protect vulnerable clubs from disenfranchisement by encouraging productive conversation and sensible legislation between clubs and ASB
Our main ideas
ASB regulations should encourage the growth, accountability, and success of clubs.
Clubs should uphold ASB regulations to the best of their abilities and contend with fair regulations.
ASB and individual clubs should coordinate and cooperate more to agree on guidelines and regulations.
AHSSCR is willing to promote dialogue and connectivity between clubs and ASB to the best of our abilities.
To this end between our conception in June to today we have done the following to advocate for our goals:
Maintained constant communications with the current clubs commissioner to express our concerns.
Presented to ASB during a meeting to present an alternative club approval guide.
Result: ASB made revisions to the guidelines.
Removed a mandate which would make advertising for all chartered clubs mandatory,
Removed a mandate which would make fundraising for all chartered clubs mandatory.
Removed a mandate which would make event hosting for all chartered clubs mandatory.
Hosted Unchartered Clubs Day virtually to allow unchartered clubs an opportunity to advertise and obtain club members
We will continue our mission to ensure that all clubs whether unchartered or chartered, big or small, will continue to find AHS to be an environment suitable to reach out to like minded individuals and growth student organizations. To this end we encourage everyone to join our cause and participate in making AHS a more hospitable place for club growth.
