What is Unchartered Club Day?
Historically, unchartered clubs who didn’t get chartered by ASB had very limited access to advertising on campus and in AHS related spaces, leading to many clubs becoming an active because there was no effective way to gather members. With this in mind, we as AHS Students for Club Reform have taken upon ourselves to create some opportunity for unchartered club to advertise by compiling unchartered club information on a website and hosting informational meetings on November 6th very much similar to ASB’s Clubs Day. While November 6th has passed, we as AHSSCR decided that we would integrate the list of clubs we had on to our website and have the old Un-Chartered Club Day to redirect here. All of the information was directly copied from the Un-Chartered Club Day Website.

Description: Youth Arts Movement provides a safe space for students to better express their identity and background where words may fail, through art. In light of all that is going on, we provide an opportunity for advocacy of global issues through artwork. We will facilitate discussions about pieces of artwork to learn from different perspectives and to create bonds amidst differences. It is our goal to have insightful discussions together with the members about the great treasures that are hidden in artwork. During meetings, members and officers will have the opportunity to create art together and learn about the world from each other’s eyes. Members will be given service hour opportunities as well through activities such as painting/drawing on the exterior of letters to donate to organizations. Although this club revolves around the fine art of painting/drawing, we will also explore other types of art such as dance and photography during select club meetings. There will be events where we will invite special guest speakers to speak with the members of our club about art, their personal story, and how it can play a part in their futures. When we have the opportunity to go back to school again, we will host plenty of fun in-person events such as picnic painting and taking field-trips to various art museums such as The Broad and LACMA. Overall, we emphasize the creation of bonds in this club, and we welcome everyone, even those who don’t consider themselves to be student artists; we hope to learn and grow together in this space that we provide!

Description: The Ladies' First Project is a global nonprofit organization that is meeting as a club at AHS. As a student-led organization and club, we are devoted to making education more and more accessible to the girls of South Asian countries. Many rural areas in third world countries exhibit heavy gender disparities and deep-rooted stereotypes that prohibit girls from accessing educational opportunities. Our vision is to create a future where education is accessible to all children with the vitality to learn and prosper, regardless of gender. Without education, girls are silenced by the misogynistic society as they are unable to advocate for their own rights and beliefs. It is a subconscious pattern of how societies shun girls from being heard. Our club will be focused on spreading awareness on this matter and making efforts to bridge the gender gap in education. We work together to host fundraisers, school supply drives, talk events, invite guest speakers who are activists on this matter, and partner with nonprofit schools in South Asia who are also making efforts to bridge the gender disparities in education. As we partner with schools in South Asia, we will directly donate our drives there and write letters to get to know the students better.

Description: Peers Across Years is a pen-pal program that aims to connect AHS students with senior citizens residing in local senior homes. Student participants will be paired with seniors based on their hobbies and interests. Pen-pal pairs will then exchange letters with each other. During a time when forging connections has become more difficult, Peers Across Years hopes to close that intergenerational gap.
Meetings are not required because this is mostly an individual activity with the organization facilitating. There will be infrequent deadlines to follow in terms of letter submission.
