Toolkit for counterfactuals based on a spatial equilibrium framework with heterogenous preferences by Ahlfeldt-Bald-Roth-Seidel (WIP)

(c) Gabriel M. Ahlfeldt, Fabian Bald, Duncan Roth, Tobias Seidel

Version 0.9, 2024-03

General remarks:

This toolkit allows for counterfactual evaluations of the effect of changes in labour productivity, quality of life, or housing productivity on employment, wage, and housing rent in a spatial general equilibrium framework with heterogeneous worker preferences. We use a toy version of the Quantitative Spatial Model in Ahlfeldt, Bald, Roth, Seidel (WIP). To establish the general equilibrium, the model clears the labour, housing, and goods market. All programs have been written using Stata 18. However, the code should also run on earlier versions. Programs do not use user-written ado files. Original Stata code is available along with a description of the toy mode on GitHub. To install the Stata ADO type 'ssc install ABRS'. For the syntax, type 'help ABRS'.

HTML implementation

Below is a html implementation of the toolkit.  Please enter the changes to the fundamentals of the city you wish to evaluate in log units. Also, you can flexibly decide on your preferred parameter values. The program will then return the changes in endogenous outcomes, in log units. All fields are populated with default parameter values for your convenience. Feel free to adjust any of them to your preferred value.
