What is a Webquest?
It is a mini-project where a large percentage of the imput and material is derived from the internet. They can be short-term, lasting a number classes where students will navigate through a few websites finding new information and using it to achive a specific learning aim; or long-term where students will have tu analyse the information more deeply and transform it into a new product. Furthermore, Webquests provide a rigid structure of four steps for its design:
Inroduction
Introduces the theme of the Webquest and aditional backround information, vocabulary and concepts they may need to carry out the project
Task
The webquest explains what the students will have to do as they work their way through the webquest. These tasks should be motivating and reflect real-life situations.
Process
The tasks are presented to the students which will be mostly internet based. They will be given the links to the websites they can accsess to complete their activities and research.
Evaluation
This final stage involves teacher's evlaluation but also may involve self-evaluation, and peer-review. This can also be a stage for reflecting on what students have learnt and achived.
