CTC Timeline:
March 2nd - Kick Off Rabbit Contest
Groups formed and decision if group is going to be homegrown or purchased
Students receives the point break down
March 16th CTC Rabbit Doe Sale - Closes at 9:00pm
March 5th - March 17th
Homegrown: Teams decide what they want to do with their offspring.
Purchased: Teams decides where and how many to purchases
March 28th - April 10th
Homegrown: All kits being sold are gone
Purchased: Teams have their kits in owner’s possession
May 1st - Final weights
May 3rd- Contest Day
Rabbit Contest Timeline:
Breeding Does must be in owner’s possession by January 23rd.
Breeding Does can be bred starting January 23rd.(100th day is January 23rd) .
Does Kindle about February 23rd.
Purchased kids born between February 20th & March 3rd.
Resale kits must be in owner’s possession by April 10th.
Final weights taken on May 1st to complete records.
Contest May 3rd at Munsell’s Processing in Fowlerville.
Contest is worth 1000 pts
Live Evaluation - 400 pts (40%)
Carcass Evaluation - 400 pts (40%)
Report - 200 pts (20%)
* In the gradebook the contest is worth 200 pts. Score is calculated by taking your total percent of Evaluation (800 pts) and goes into Segment 4 as 100 pts. The other 100 pts is calculated by taking your total percentage of report and goes into Segment 11.

Rabbit Pricing:
3 -5 Meat Rabbits brought to contest
Top three 3 rabbits that are show - $20.00 for each profit
Other 2 rabbits - $15.00 for each profit
Rest of Meat Rabbits at CTC- Sold at market - $10.00 each
Does - You can sell back to CTC for $25.00 each
Other Cost:
Entry Free: Michigan FFA Association - $35.00
Rent - CTC Renting - $10.00 includes per cages and equipment
Feed - Team needs to decide what feed to buy from the following: TSC, Family Farm & Home, Hudsonville Co-op, Blains, Piers, & Morren Bros.
Must use CTC cages/equipment and must be housed at tech center to compete in the contest.
A farm may only own up to 3 doe rabbits or they pay a government tax of $50 per doe.
Students participating in the Meat Rabbit event will gain the real world experience of raising rabbits that follow the American Rabbit Breeder Association Standards and are market ready.
