AGAC High Performance Training Groups
Description:
This group consists of high-level high school athletes with multiple Senior-level qualifying times (Western Zones or USA "AA" times), with a focus on developing athletes to compete at the Sectional-National level.
Practices:
6-9 Swim & Weights practices/week
Expectations:
Athletes are expected to set goals and come to each practice with motivation to work towards them and show a willingness to challenge themselves in practice.
Athletes should have a comprehensive understanding of race pace/training times to utilize during practice.
Any schedule conflicts that interfere with practices must be communicated to their coach with as much prior notice as possible.
Athletes are expected to attend all meets that the Senior group is invited to (local & travel).
Description:
This group is designed to prepare athletes for the Senior Group and to elevate athletes towards their first Senior-level qualifying times (Arena Grand Challenge/USA "A").
Practices:
5-7 Swim & Weights practices/week
Expectations:
Athletes are expected to show a willingness to make adjustments and give full effort in practice at all times and will be introduced to the goal-setting process.
Athletes are expected to communicate with their coach if they are not able to attend a practice for a valid reason.
Athletes are expected to attend all meets that the Pre-Senior group is invited to (all local & any travel meets they have qualified for).
Description:
This group is designed to develop stroke mechanics and aerobic base, while teaching good training habits for athletes who are looking to improve their technique, endurance, strength, and times.
Practices:
3-5 Swim practices/week
Expectations:
Athletes are expected to come to each practice with a positive attitude and work together with other athletes in their group.
Athletes are encouraged to communicate with their coach if they are not able to attend a practice. This is the time to start building great communication habits!
Athletes are expected to attend all local meets that the Development group is invited to.
AGAC Youth Training Groups
Description:
This group is designed for novice-level, elementary to middle school aged athletes with some background in swimming (graduated highest level of lessons), and will introduce these athletes to competition.
The focus in the Novice Group is to improve stroke technique & fundamentals, build endurance and create a fun environment to introduce athletes to competitive swimming.
Practices:
2-3 Swim practices/week
Expectations:
Athletes are expected to bring a positive attitude to practice and show respect to their coach(es).
Athletes are strongly encouraged, but not required, to participate in swim meets that the Novice group is invited to.
