Jesus knew He was about to die,but He didn’t feel sorry for himself -most of us would. He knew he would be betrayed and suffer unjustly.
In His darkest hour ,Jesus thought about others.
His disciples just finished arguing which one of them was the greatest (Luke 22),
Their hearts were full of pride and earthly ambitions.
He told them before to be like a child ,like a servant but they didn’t get it,so He showed them...
What He did shocked them,they never got over it. He washed their feet,even the feet of Judas,knowing well he would betray Him.
He commended us to love like that.
“When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

Those days people wore sandals,roads were dusty and feet got really dirty.It was customary for a host to call his slaves to wash the feet of his guests. Jesus became
a servant. Today we wear socks and nice shoes and although some churches still practice foot washing, most of us don’t . But we can show our love to one another
in so many ways .
One of the greatest ways is prayer.
Jesus told His disciples that they were clean,only their feet needed washing.
We are clean,born again ,having a new heart and a new nature ,but....
Are feet are still touching this sinful world ,we are daily being influenced by the things
around us, we need His blood ,His word and His Presence to cleanse us.
Sometimes we are overwhelmed,we get tired .To tired to run to Jesus.
But we can help each other, wash each other’s feet spiritually,praying ,interceding.
There are days when I am weak but you are strong ,you can pray for me.
There are days when you are weak and I am strong,I can pray for you .
We are strong together.
So let’s show love by praying. prayer doesn’t have to be long to be effective.
The greatest prayer in the Bible ,the one our Lord prayed for the church in John 17
takes about 3 min in Greek ,yet it’s so powerful.
Pray in faith,pray in love
