“So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them,”
Exodus 15:22-25 NKJV
Have you ever been to a desert? It’s a very hot place. We are told that you can only survive in the wilderness for 3 to 4 days without water. At this point the children of Israel were literally dying of thirst. Can you imagine their joy when they came to
Marah and found water? Can you imagine their disappointment when they tasted it ?
Their hopes were crashed, their dreams were shattered
Life is like that ; we all experience disappointments. We all come to “ bitter waters”.
God used a tree to make the water sweet. It was a symbol of the cross that our Lord
was crucified on. ( Galatians 3:13)
Cross is the beginning of healing , it is a place of forgiveness. If you’re carrying bitterness in your heart, first of all ,ask Him to forgive you. Then, forgive yourself.
Many times, we cause problems in our life trough mistakes, sin etc.
You also have to,it’s not optional, forgive those who have hurt you,
After forgiveness, ask God to heal you. He still heals broken hearts.
Psalm 23 :3 says:
“He restores my soul”
Just like a damaged piece of art needs to be restored by a skillful hand,
Our God restores us ,cleansing our wounds, healing and comforting .
Today, come to the cross and allow Jesus to turn your “bitter water”
sweet again.
