Hunger and Poverty

Throughout small African American communities all around the US and the world, there is always the recurring issue of how are the members going to receive their next meal or how the family will continue to pay for the rent they're already behind on.

More than 56,0001 African Americans were added into the food insecurity count in 2017
Eight of the 10 counties with the highest food insecurity rates in the nation are at least 60% African American
Both children and adults were food insecure in 7.1 percent of households with children that makes for 2.7 million households.

While hunger and poverty declined among African American communities in recent years, food insecurity has still not dropped enough to make a noticeable difference for families struggling in these conditions.

Across the united states, the concentration of food insecurity and poverty have been focused in southern and eastern states, with the worse situations being found in places with African American majorities.
