Lester Eugene Mayers a graduate from the Department of Theatre Arts at SUNY New Paltz and a Brooklyn man is a poet, writer, videographer, and an artist. His works have been published in a series of established institutions such as Huffington Post, Arsenal Pulp Press, LAMBDA LITERARY, Chronogram, Sojourner Truth Library, Colorado’s Boulder Weekly and I Am from Driftwood LGBTQ archive.
His book 100 poems for 100 voices was a hit all across the world, allowing for him to attend sold out poetry tours and getting his poems on iTunes, Spotify, and Tidal. This had earned him the Visionary Award from the National Advancement of Color Woman Organization and two New York State proclamations.
His second book African Booty Scratcha (lovin da ashy-blaq fat chall wit yella teef, peasy head & a broken smile) was released November of 2019 and the focus of this production.
He has also worked with universities like SUNY Oswego, Pace University, University at Buffalo, and Delta State University. Associations like Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Denizen Theater, and the Unframed Artist Gallery. Holding workshops and reading of his works, explaining their meaning to him and his hope of addressing his messages.
