• Search Query - a word or phrase you type into a search engine to find information online

• Spider (as related to the WWW) - A program that automatically browses the world wide web and gathers information for search engines.   

• Digital Footprint - a record of everything you do online 

• What are the 5 basic computer components? - 

1. Motherboard

2. CPU (central processing unit)

3. RAM (random access memory)

4. Storage (hard drive, SSD) 

5. Power Supply 

• What is a file as it relates to computers? -  a collection of data stored in a computer under a certain name 

• File Extension - a set of letters that come at the end of a file name (.docx, .jpg, etc.) 

• Zip File - a compressed file that contains one or more files combined into a single smaller file. 

ex- photo.zip - would contain photo1.zip photo2.zip photo3.zip 

• Saas - a way of delivering software over the internet instead of installing it on your computer. ex- google docs, Microsoft 365, Dropbox

• Digital Bubble - where you only see info online that matches your interests, beliefs 

• Generative AI - Type of artificial intelligence that creates new content rather than just analyzing or predicting existing data. 

• Prompt (as related to AI) - the instruction you give AI 

• What is the difference between the internet and the WWW? - The internet is the infrastructure (cables, routers, servers, data moving around the world). While the WWW is what you use on top of the internet (website, links, videos etc).  

• Browser - The app you use to access the web (chrome, safari, edge)   

• URL - An address for a specific resource on the web.
