GIFTED AND TALENTED EDUCATION WITH ACCELERATED YOUTH
Meet Billy Bob the Bug Bot!
He is actually a Vibrobot who does his own artwork. Billy Bob's favorite thing at AES is STEM!
Each GATEWAY student in 3rd-5th grade gets to engineer their own Vibrobot!
Did you know the name Pisa means ‘marshy land’ in Greek? The students researched and discovered several issues that affected the foundational support of the tower. Then, they used the engineering design process to imagine, plan, create, and improve their very own Leaning Tower of Pisa. We think we see several future engineers and architects!
Bartow County is so proud of the gifted team who presented at the National Association of Gifted Children Conference in Denver, Colorado. They presented about STEM Challenges for the Mensa Reading list and learned from lots of other great speakers.
Ozobots raced around the world. AES started their Tour of Nations unit by turning their world map into a 3D model using QuiverVision. It was so cool to use this augmented reality app with geography!
AES 2nd Grade GATEWAY students made homemade ice cream after reading the Quirkles book, Kitchen Chemistry Kal. Who knew one could make ice cream in a classroom!
What do robotics, coding, and space have in common? NASA!! AES fourth grade GATEWAY students got to virtually meet an awesome aerospace engineer, who is from Georgia but now works for NASA in California. Thank you to Dr. Schatzman for your time, inspiration, and for sharing your knowledge with us! I believe we will have several NASA interns from Bartow County in our future!
AES Second graders have been working on a STEM lesson involving shadows in their classroom and how they changed based on the sun.
