While we love spreading the joy of books, there is much more to our library program at AES. Helping students prepare for the skills that they will need in the future starts with our kindergarteners. Students collaborate, communicate, create and use technology to help solve real world problems. Not only do we partner with teachers to reinforce standards that the students are learning in the classroom, but we also instruct students using the American Association of School Librarians Standards (AASL). The AASL encourages children to inquire, include, collaborate, curate, explore and engage. We meet these standards using books (print & eBooks), a variety of online resources, technology and creative spaces.
The AES Library partners with the Reading Committee to help plan our Reading Celebration days where we celebrate the wonder of books. In the past, we have hosted some great authors and illustrators.

Mrs. Day, Librarian
Before I became the librarian at AES, I taught grades 1-3 for 14 years in two different states. I am originally from Ohio, lived in Savannah, Georgia for 7 years and then moved to Greenwood, South Carolina in 2013. I met and married my husband, David, while living in Savannah. I have an energetic 23 month old son named Phillip. We share our home with some four-legged children: Archie the dog, Vera the cat and George (Weasley) the red-eared slider turtle.
One of my favorite parts about being a teacher was when I introduced students to great books. Now I am able to do that with the whole school! I also love working with technology to enhance learning for both teachers and students. Aside from my interests in books and technology, I also love music, being crafty, and spending time with my family.
Archie & Vera, Library Assistants
Archie is an 11 year old black lab and border collie mix who loves to nap and squeaky toys.
Vera is a 2 year old calico who loves to nap and attack random things.
