This week was the first week in the planning stages for the robot. The overall plan was to come up with a potential design for the overall robot including the base, throwing mechanism, and control systems for the robot.
The initial plan calls for a bean bag launcher with a belt drive to launch each bean bag. However, several concerns that Dr Hatton raised for this design include the bean bag getting stuck (jamming) along with the design being meant for tennis balls. Further research was done about this design, and is available on the Mechanical Design Concepts page.
