PRIME STEP®: The Praxis Regional Institute for Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Technology, Education, and Pharmacology®.
The PRIME STEP® Academies are operated and implemented as a part of the youth career development and college preparation sequence within each school year. Each student may select and interview for as many PRIME STEP® Academies as they have an interest. Enrollment in an academy is based upon their choices and interests. The duration of the school-based academy is eight months, and the summer academy is six (6) weeks. The sequential summer academies are mandated systems held at the end of the academic-year that act as the Summer Bridge for each grade from 5th through 12th. The trips, classes, activities, and socialization projects held throughout the school-year help students to prepare for this intensive system. Listed below are the general thematic units, career paths, classes, and skills sets associated with each applicable grade. The concurrent grade is the grade in which each student is finishing, produces a project as a team and as an individual to earn promotion to the next grade, and continues enrollment in the next, and subsequent, academic year and summer academy.
