The Medjai Martials Arts Academies LLC implements youth mentoring academies for self-esteem and leadership skills development, character development, and cultural enrichment.
Medjai Martial Arts Academies LLC implements martial arts, high-adventure activities, and mentoring to train youth from ages 6 to 21 to use positive-risk engagements for character development. This system prevents and reduces gun violence through four goals with targeted outcomes.
Goal #1: Provide participants with adventure-based physical education opportunities that will enhance their overall health and fitness, and encourage character development. Outcome #1: Implementing age age-appropriate, adventure-based activities that emphasizes physical activity and character development for participants. Outcome #2: Serve at least 30 participants through the physical education initiative, including challenge courses. Outcome #3: The participants will demonstrate increased ability to use positive peer interaction skills, such as conflict mediation, active listening, and cooperation skills. Outcome #4: The participants will make significant strides toward achieving the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
Goal #2: Provide participants with instruction in “life-sports” that will promote their current health and fitness as well as the adoption of lifelong healthy lifestyles. Outcome #1: Providing instruction in life-sports, health, and fitness education to at least 30 participants. Outcome #2: The participants will demonstrate increased understanding of health, fitness, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Outcome #3: The participants will adopt healthy lifestyle practices, such as getting additional exercise and participating in sports activities.
Goal #3: Provide youth leaders with professional development opportunities and resources in physical education and group initiative leadership. Outcome #1: Train at least ten (10) participants to become trainers who attain the group initiative leadership skills in physical education initiatives. Outcome #2: The youth trainers will employ more alternative physical activities and group-building ground initiatives in the program, their families, and neighborhoods. Outcome #3: The youth trainers will recruit other participants to engage in the challenge courses and/or our sports initiatives.
Goal #4: Strengthen our collaboration with youth and families throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods and communities to provide effective adventure-based physical education and life sports activities. Objective #1: Maintain regular contact between participants, families, and community groups. Objective #2: The participants will provide feedback as the program evolves and expands various components.
