Addison Oaks County Park

Addison Oaks is on 1,140 acres of natural Land where people can come and enjoy their time in nature, camp under the stars, and explore the history about the park.
Addison oaks is located in both Leonard and Addison Twp. with Leonard having a population of 350 and Addison Twp. having a population of 6,225. There are also two carryout places called Leonard's pizza and Isolas.
Addison oaks has so much to do no matter how old you are or whatever abilities you have. With playgrounds and trails, many ADA sites and a handicap boat launch, everyone is welcome to come enjoy the park.
Amenities that it has include, 20+ miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and winter fat tire biking; Boat and bike rentals at the boathouse open seasonally, 18-hole disc golf course, fishing at ethier Adams Lake or Buhl Lake, geocaching, and picnicking. A 2.5-mile trail connects the main part of the park to Addison Oaks-East Located just down the road. There are also 2 playgrounds located at the front of the park and next to the recreation pavilion that houses activities every Saturday during the peak season. The park also includes a solar system trail walk around the Buhl trail.
In 1927, Lawrence D. and Cora Peck Buhl Purchased the land in Oakland County to Build their Summer home. After that Dr. D.J. Boucher bought the land in 1965, Using it first as his home but later making it into the Tudor Hills Gun Club and Game Preserve. He ended up losing money and becoming too poor to live there and didn't pay his taxes. This is when the property was given to Oakland County in 1969, And the land is now known as Addison Oaks County Parks.
Vision: Said in Oakland Countys master plan "Our vision inspires us; it is aspirational and declares our intent and direction and states the long-term outcome of our work. Everyone in Oakland County has access to a park, public space, or recreational opportunity to relax, be active, socialize, and connect with nature." (Oakland County master plan 81)
Mission: According to Oakland Countys master plan "Our mission is a concise explanation of what we do and who we do it for. We create and operate accessible, welcoming, and sustainable parks and public spaces, provide recreational and educational programs and opportunities, preserve open space, and steward the environment to help all people be healthier and build resilient, connected communities in Oakland County." (Oakland County master plan 81)
