Robert M. Moser was born on March 24th !918 in Bluffton, Wells, IN. His parents Obed Moser (1895-1967) and Mary Schwartz (1894-1983) had other 3 children beside him – Russel Eugene Moser, Wanda Jane Moser, Dorothy Ann, and Joyce (Troxel). Robert stayed in Bluffton his whole life and attended Bluffton High School there. His youngest sister, Joyce, does not remember her brother that much, but she recalled "I can remember giving him his lunch at the filling station and he would give me a candy bar or a nickel". She can also remember him having many rabbits that she loved.

On October 23, 1941 he married Dolores Marceille Worden, together they had a son – Max Lee Moser (1943-2016).

Rober enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 16th, 1940 and began pilot training in January of 1942 for the C47 aircraft. He started training at Kessler Field in Mississippi. After some time, Robert was sent to Missouri to Camp Malden where he became an instructor for new C47 pilots. He achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant.

On December 13, 1944 Lt. Moser was on a night training with three other crewmen (flight officer Emil P Ratay, Cpl. Kenneth Harold Newell and Cpl. William Harold, Schauss) when they crashed into a hill a few miles north of Zalma, Missouri, due to broken radar. His remains were transported back to Indiana, where he is interred at Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Magley Indiana.
