Applying for a Marriage License

There are two ways to apply for a marriage license due to the current restrictions in place.

  1. Apply online. Click here to apply for a marriage license.

  2. Download the marriage application Form AC-415, type or print the information legibly, and mail or bring it to the Court.

Procedures

  1. At least one of the applicants must be a resident of Adams County and the marriage must be performed in the State of Ohio. If both applicants are from out of state but wish to be married in Adams County, they must obtain their license in Adams County.

  2. You must verify the information provided with the Deputy Clerk.

  3. Each applicant must provide a valid photo identification along with their social security card. Social Security numbers are held in confidence and do not become a part of the Court’s public records. If you are unable to bring your social security card, the Court will accept documentation from an insurance policy, financial institution or tax information containing name and social security number on the documentation. If either applicant has been previously married and the marriage ended in divorce, dissolution or annulment, the applicant must provide a file stamped copy of the final order or decree granting the divorce, dissolution or annulment and is required for all previous divorces.

  4. Cost of the license is $50 (check or money order). Checks are accepted ONLY if the name and address on the check matches the driver's license of the person applying. CASH and Credit Card payments are also accepted.

  5. Please allow sufficient time for processing. Marriage license applications MUST be submitted no later than 3:00 PM on any day when the Court is open.

  6. The license may be used the same day it is received. It must be used within 60 days. The day of issue is day 1 of the 60 days.
