Canva
Canva and Adobe Express are great tools to create eye-catching materials like posters, worksheets, newsletters, and presentations. They are easy to use, with ready-made templates that save time and help teachers design professional-looking content without needing graphic design skills. These tools also let teachers add their own style and make learning more engaging for students.
Adobe Express
In this program, I have had the need to be able to design material that is eye catching but as has sufficient information on it for example we have designed infographics, timelines, presentations, etc. I don't really have any graphic design experience but these 2 applications have helped me design items that are eye catching and also contain the information needed. The best part of it all was for our group projects we were able to share our projects amongst each other and collaborate on the design.
Examples of my work:
Google Sites
Google Sites and Wix are great tools for both teachers and students. Teachers can use them to share lessons, updates, and class resources. Students can create project pages or digital portfolios to show off their work. Google Sites is simple and works well with Google Drive, while Wix lets you get more creative with design. Both help keep everyone—students, teachers, and families—connected and engaged.
Wix
Learning to use Google Sites and Wix helped me see how important web design is in instructional design. While a lot of learning happens inside platforms like an LMS, not everything has to live there. Sometimes, creating a simple, standalone website is a better way to share resources or reach a broader audience. Knowing how to build these sites gives me more flexibility when designing learning experiences, and it's a great way to practice organizing content, thinking about user experience, and making materials more accessible outside of a typical LMS.
Chat GPT
ChatGPT and Claude AI are AI tools that can support both teachers and students with writing, brainstorming, and learning. Teachers can use them to plan lessons, create quizzes, or get ideas for classroom activities. Students can use them to get help understanding topics, generate writing ideas, or study for tests
Claude AI
I utilized AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude in my instructional design work. They helped me come up with ideas, write content, and create materials faster. These tools saved me time and made the whole process a bit simpler and less overwhelming. Both ChatGPT and Claude can also assist with coding, which was especially helpful for me since I don’t know how to code at all. Thanks to these AI tools, I was able to bring my designs to life without needing to learn complex programming. They made it easier to turn my ideas into real, working projects, which really boosted my confidence as an instructional designer.
This project is one that I am still working on and would eventually like to turn into a mobile application. Currently I have made a website. The goal is the design a website/app that provides users with a workout plan based on their personal information. The user will enter their name, weight, height, goal, and skill level.
I started with Claude AI to get a basic layout and responsive website this was the prompt, "I want to design a workout website that provides workouts based on the personal information provided by the user. can you provide me with a layout using javascript html css and react" The website was functional and interactive so I then asked it to modify the theme to be a dark theme. I was able to get the theme I was looking for. Due to the limitations of Claude AI, I then copied the code and asked Chat GPT "you are a web designer, I have the this website. When the user nputs their information currently the workouts stay the same no matter the input. Please modify the workouts to change and best suit the user: (paste code here)" I was able to get a functioning website with adaptable workouts based on the equipment, skill level, and time availability for the user.
Somethings I want to improve would be to add more animations for the workouts instead of just the name and number of sets/reps. I also want to make create a dashboard so user can create their own account and have dashboard that keeps track of their progress to keep them motivated.
