07/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has joined IIT Mandi as the first permanent faculty member of the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India (link). Before joining to IIT Mandi, Dr. Chakraborty was in his home at Kolkata for approx. one year and he has published three important research papers from his home on analytical solution of different multi-state problems in quantum mechanics.
08/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has become the chair of Web Developement Team (WDT) of IIT Mandi. WDT is expected to create and maintain IIT Mandi webpage. Members of WDT are the current B. Tech. students of IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India.
08/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has become a member of the 'Institute purchase committee' of IIT Mandi, Himachal Prodesh, India.
08/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has become the first Sports Advisor of IIT Mandi, Himachal Prodesh, India.
12/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty's Ph.D. thesis has been published in the form of a book link14/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has become the first chairperson of Institute colloquium committee of IIT Mandi, Himachal Prodesh, India.
15/06/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has become the in-charge of B. Tech. Chemistry Laboratory. Despite of his theoretical chemistry background as able to make the laboratory functional within two months (with the help from chemistry department of IIT Roorkee, India). In fact it was the first fully functional laboratory at IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India.
08/07/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty has attended Academic Council meeting at IIT Roorkee, as one of the representatives of IIT Mandi.
08/08/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty offered one elective course (introduction to molecular spectroscopy) to second year B. Tech. students. This was the first course ever offered by Dr. Chakraborty.
11/09/2010 - Dr. Chakraborty was invited to deliver a lecture at the twelfth Theoretical Chemistry Symposium at IIT Kanpur, India (8-12 December, 2010). He is expected to discuss about effective Hamiltonian method for understanding highly anharmonic vibrations of molecular
19/10/2010 - First research paper from Dr. Chakraborty's group got accepted in Molecular Physics. That was indeed the first published research work done from IIT Mandi. This paper deals with an analytically solvable model for multi-state problems in quantum Physics.
21/11/2010: Mr. Diwaker has joined our research group as the first Ph.D. student. He has done his M.Tech. in Nanoscience from Punjab University, Punjab, India. Before joining our group he was a faculty member of Physics at the Lovely Professional University, Punjab, India.
25/12/2010: Dr. Chakraborty has attended inter IIT sports meet at IIT Delhi, Delhi, India as the 'Sports Advisor' of IIT Mandi. Attending lot of sport events for two weeks was an amazing experience for Dr. Chakraborty.
24/02/2011 - Dr. Chakraborty received 'Foundation Day Award' for recognition of his research & teaching excellence. This award was given to him for publishing first research work done at IIT Mandi and also for high quality class-room teaching.
15/03/2011: Our group member Mr. Diwaker gave a seminer on current trands of research in Nanoscience at IIT Mandi, India.
24/04/2011 - Dr. Chakraborty has been appointed as a member of 'faculty selection committee' in Mathematics of School of Basic Sciences of IIT Mandi, India.
24/02/2012 - Mr. Diwaker received best 'Teaching Assistant Award' at the foundation day of IIT Mandi. Despite of his Physics background he has performed all chemistry experiments by himself and explain all experiments step-by-step to B.Tech. first year students in the chemistry Laborat24/03/2012 - Mr. Diwaker attended a workshop on 'Advanced methods in Quantum Chemistry' at University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany (26-30 March, 2012). His visit was fully funded by IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India.
21/05/2012 - Mr. Diwaker gave a seminer on different use of quantum chemistry package MOLPRO in research and teaching at IIT Mandi, India.
22/07/2012 - Dr. Chakraborty has attended one workshop on web developement and maintenance at IIT Kanpur, India (22 July 2012). The idea of iitsystems webpage was formulated in that workshop.
24/02/2013 - Dr. Chakraborty received IIT Mandi 'Foundation Day Award' for recognition of his teaching excellence. This award was given to him for teaching 'Fundamental Chemistry' corse course to B. Tech. first year students and Thermodynamics (elective) course to the B. Tech. second year stduents.
01/06/2013 - Mr. Diwaker is selected for the travel grant from Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, India, for attending a conference on 'Quantum Reactive Scattering' at the University of Bordeaux, France. This is the first time our group has received any funding from DST, New Delhi,
13/07/2013 - Dr. Chakraborty was invited to chair a technical session of 'Current Trends in Theoretical Chemistry' at the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India (26-28 September, 2013). This symposium is arranged to honour Prof. Swapan K. Ghosh of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India - an eminent theoretical chemist.
01/05/2014 - Mr. Asish Kumar has joined our research group as project associate. Before joining our group, he has done M.Sc. (physics) from Central University of Himachal Pradsh, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India. He will be working on analytically solvable models of bridge-mediated electron transfer
13/06/2014 - Dr. Chakraborty was invited to deliver a lecture at the fourteenth Theoretical Chemistry Symposium at the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India (14-16 December, 2014). There he is expected to talk about his recent research works on reaction-diffusion system.
19/06/2014 - Mr. Diwaker received the best poster award at the 'Research Fair - Anusandhan' held at IIT Mandi. He has presented his research work on analytically solvable model of multi-state problems in quantum mechanics.
30/06/2014 - The project titled "Low-cost 3D printer" by C. Nadh, B. N. Vineeth, S. Bhat, N. Narayan, A. Reza & R. Reddy under the mentorship of Dr. R. Kumar & Dr. Chakraborty won the 1st prize in the Design Practicum at IIT Mandi.
30/06/2014 - The project titled "Intelligent car parking system" by D. Singh, A. Patel, R. Shukla, S. Alam, K. Bohara & R. Raj under the mentorship of Dr. R. Kumar & Dr. Chakraborty won the 2nd prize in the Design Practicum at IIT Mandi.
30/11/2014 - The project titled "Construction in Hilly areas" by A. Chowdary, N. K. Gupta, M. Rawat, A. Srivastava & O. Azmi under the mentorship of Dr. Chakraborty won the 3rd prize in the Interactive Socio-Technical Practicum at IIT Mandi.
07/12/2014 - Dr. Chakraborty has attended one workshop on 'Teaching and Learning' at IIT Mandi, India (6-7 December, 2014). The workshop focussed mostly on "Learning Outcome", which was very interesting.
03/06/2015 - Dr. Chakraborty has become an Associate Professor of Chemistry of IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India.
27/07/2015 - Ms. Moumita Ganguly & Ms. Paromita Dutta have joined our research group as Ph.D. students. Before joining to our group Moumita did her M.Sc. in Bio-medical Sciences and Parmoita did her M.Sc. in Physics - both from Delhi University. Moumita is the first Ph.D. student in our group with Bio-science background.
29/07/2015 - Dr. Chakraborty has received invitation to chair a technical session of Physical & Bio-Physical Chemistry Conference - Theory and Experiment at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India (2-4 December, 2015).
27/08/2015 - Mr. Deepak Kumar joined our research group for his M.Sc. (Chemistry) Project. He is expected to arrive at a new analtically solvable model for multi-state problems in quantum mechanics
02/12/2015 - Mr. Diwaker defended his thesis successfully. His thesis was reviewed by Prof. Eli Pollak of Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel and Prof. N. Sathyamurthy of IIT Kanpur
03/12/2015 - Ms. Shivani Verma joined our research group for her M.Sc. (Chemistry) Project. She is expected to work on a simplest possible model of electron correlation.
01/02/2016 - Dr. Diwaker has joined the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India as a guest faculty member of Physics. He is expected to teach Classical Electrodynamics and Classical Mechanics to first year M.Sc. (Physics) students.
24/02/2016 - Dr. Chakraborty received 'Foundation Day Award' for recognition of his research excellence. This is the second time Dr. Chakraborty's research efforts were recognized by IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. In the year 2015 our group has published 10 research papers in reputed international journals, which include method developements as well as application of existing methods.
06/03/2016 - Ms. Moumita Ganguly gave an interesting talk on 'polymer looping problems in solution: reaction-diffusion approach" at the 'Reseach Fair - Anusandhan' held at IIT Mandi.
24/06/2016 - Dr. Chakraborty was invited to present as a mentor (under Mathematical Sciences) in the 'Science Pursuit for Inspired Research' (INSPIRE) camp at the Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India (4-8 July 2016).
25/06/2016 - Our group member Ms. Shivani Verma has joined Prof. M. Durga Prasad's group @ University of Hyderabad for 8 weeks summer internship. There she will be working on finding approximate solution for gaussian potential model.
25/06/2016 - Our group member Mr. Deepak Kumar has joined Prof. S. Mahapatra's group @ University of Hyderabad for 8 weeks summer internship. There he will be doing using reactive trajectory method forunderstanding simple chemical reactions.
26/06/2016 - Dr. Chakraborty was invited to deliver a lecture at the 'Recent Advances in Theoretical Chemistry' at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India (8-9 July, 2016). He was expected to talk about his recent works on multi-state problems in quantum and statistical mechanics.
28/06/2016 - Our group member Mr. Jonas Dehning's summer project report has been accepted for publication in Chem. Phys. Lett.. Jonas has developed a new method (which goes beyond the standard method) for estimating rate of transition from one bucked state to another for a nano-rod under compression.
24/06/2016 - Our group member Ms. Moumita Ganguly's first Ph.D. problem has been accepted for publication in Physica A. In this work she has derived exact analytical formulae for rate constants of polymer looping problem in solution using reaction-diffusion approach.
27/07/2016 - Mr. R. Saravanan & Mr. Chinmoy Samanta have joined our research group for I-Ph.D. (Physics) project. Chinmoy is expected to develop new analytically solvable models for reaction-diffusion systems and Saravanan is expected to develop time domain method for solving existing models of reaction-diffusion systems.
27/08/2016 - Ms. Pooja Devi has joined our research group for her M.Sc. (Chemistry) Project. She is expected to work on theoretical understanding of Michaelis- Menten catalysis.
11/09/2016 - Dr. Chakraborty has received invitation to deliver a lecture at the fifteenth Theoretical Chemistry Symposium at University of Hyderabad, India (14-17 December, 2016). He is expected to give a lecture on multi-state problems innquantum mechanics.
10/12/2016 - Dr. Chakraborty was invited to present as a mentor (under Chemical Sciences) in the 'Science Pursuit for Inspired Research' (INSPIRE) camp at the Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India (21-24 December 2016).
10/12/2016 - Our research work was highlighted in Director's speech at the 4-th convocation of IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. He has appreciated our efforts for doing quality research at IIT Mandi starting form the initial days.
21/01/2017 - Our group member Ms. Moumita Ganguly is selected for International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) School on Biological Soft Matter, Sao Paulo, Brazil (12-24 March, 2017). There she is expected to present a poster on her recent research work on two state model of polymer looping in solution. Most likely she is the only student with Bioscience background attending this school.
06/02/2017 - Dr. Chakraborty has received an invitation to deliver a lecture at the first edition of Discussion Meeting on Spectroscopy, Structure & Dynamics at BITS Pilani, India (16-18 March, 2017). He is expected to give a talk on electronic relaxation problem in solution.
11/02/2017 - Our group member Ms. Paromita Dutta is invited to present a poster at the first edition of Discussion Meeting on Spectroscopy, Structure & Dynamics at BITS Pilani, India (16 - 18 March, 2017). There she is expected to present her recent results on inverse scattering problems.
24/02/2017 - Our group member Ms. Moumita Ganguly received excellence in 'Teaching Assistant' award at the foundation day of the Institute. This award was due to her extraordinary efforts in helping few students in the "Mathematics for Chemists" course.

07/07/2017 - First RSC-Salters' Chemistry Camp in Himachal Pradesh, India was held in IIT Mandi - coordinated by Dr. A. Chakraborty & Ms. Moumita Ganguly and Moumita is, most likely the youngest coordinator in the history of RSC-Salters' Chemistry Camp.

17/05/2018 - Ms. Urvashi Singh has joined our research group for her M. Tech. thesis work. She is the first M.Tech. student of our group. She has qualified GATE exam. (AIR 499) before joining IIT Mandi for her M. Tech.

01/06/2018 - Mr. Adesh Singh has joined our research group for his Ph.D. thesis work. He is expected to develop a path integral based method for solving problems in reaction-diffusion system.
05/06/2018 - Our project entitled "curve crossing problems: semi-analytical method for arbitrary coupling" is approved by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, India ( ~ 7.5 Lakh). This is our first externally funded project.
07/06/2018 - Our group member Mr. Gaurav Sharma has accepted Ph.D. position at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He is expected to work on sound wave propagation.
17/07/2018 - Our group member Mr. R. Saravanan got invitation from 'Catalysis Today' (Elsevier Publication) to review a research paper - he is probably one of the youngest reviewer in the history of this journal.
18/07/2018 - Our group member Ms. Moumita Ganguly has attended ICTS Bangalore School on Statistical Physics (27 June- 13 July, 2018).
22/07/2018 - Our group member Ms. Urvashi Singh is selected for the prestigeous Barcelona cognition, brain and technology summer school at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia at the UPC campus, Spain (3 - 14 september, 2018). There she will present a poster based on her recent work on Alzheimer diseases.
23/07/2018 - Dr. Chakraborty is invited to deliver a short talk at the Puri Polymer Conference, organized by Institute of Physics Bhubaneswar, India (12 - 14 December, 2018). There he was expected to talk about his recent works on polymer looping problem.
01/09/2018 - Ms. Varnika Yadav has joined our research group as a project associate. She has done her M.Sc. (Chemistry) from IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. She is expected to work on curve crossing problems in spectroscopy.
08/09/2018 - Dr. Chakraborty is selected for 'Teaching Honour Roll' award for recognition of his teaching excellence. In this year he taugh 'group theory and spectroscopy' and 'Adv. quantum chemistry' - both the courses for the first time. This is the 4-th time, Dr. Chakraborty's teaching efforts were recognized by the IIT Mandi, H.P., India.
10/10/2018 - Our former group member Ms. Richa Pandey has been selected for the prestigeous Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) scheme. for collaborative research with Applied Materials Inc. (USA).
12/09/2018 - Dr. Chakraborty was cited in Prof. J. Cina's (Oregon Center for Optics, Univ. of Oregon, USA) historic document (Lecture notes of Landau & Lifshitz's - Electrodynamics of Continuous Media - Reading group) in L&L Notes Page 1-100 page 3 as - "the best question ever was Aniruddha’s query about the physical significance of the tracelessness of the energy-momentum tensor for the electromagnetic field, which led to a several months long “wormhole” before resolving itself in a clear explanation".
12/09/2018 - Dr. Chakraborty has become the advisor of "Society for Collaborative Research & Innovation" of IIT Mandi, Kamand Campus, Himachal Pradesh, India.
14/09/2018 - Mr. Ankit Patel, Ms. Neha Sharma, Mr. Md. Zeesham Alam & Ms. Anjali Negi have joined our research group for M.Sc. (Chemistry) project.
14/09/2018 - Mr. Rahul Mittal has joined our research group for his M.Sc. (Physics) thesis. He is expected to work on multi-state dirac comb model.
27/09/2018 - Our group member Mr. Sourav Kumar's M.Sc. (Chemistry) project work (Title: Adsorbed Fullerene: Rolling mechanistic pathways on aluminium surface) has been accepted for poster presentation at the Frontiers of Chemical Sciences (IIT Gewahati: 6-8 December, 2018).

16/12/2018 - Our former group member Mr. Gaurav Sharma has accepted Ph.D. position at the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai, India under the prestigeous Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) scheme. He is the first student of our group to get selected under this scheme.
01/02/2019 - Ms. Proma Mondal from Bangladesh has joned our research group on 1st February, 2019 - she is the first international Ph.D. student of our group. She is expected to work on the effective Hamiltonian method for understanding curve crossing problems.
02/02/2019 - Our group member Ms. Moumita Ganguly is selected for an International workshop on "Multi-scale simulation and mathematical modelling of complex biological systems" at Jawharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India (28-th January to 1-st February, 2019). There she was expcted to present a poster on analytical calculation of distribution of end-to-end distance of a long chain polymer molecule in solution.
08/02/2019 - Our group member Ms. Moumita Ganguly is selected for International workshop on "computer simulation and theory of macromolecules" at Hunfeld, Germany (22 - 23 March, 2019). There she was invited to chair one technical seession.
26/02/2019 - Ms. Atmika Bhardwaj has joined our research group for her M.Sc. (Physics) thesis. She is expected to work on understanding the possibility of anamalous classical dynamics of a buckled nanorod under compression.

28/02/2019 - Our group member Md. Zeshan Alam's talk on "solitons" was awarded on the occasion National Science Day celebration progm. at IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. Zeshan's M.Sc. (chemistry) project is directed towards finding new molecular solitons.
23/03/2019 - Dr. Chakraborty is invited to deliver a talk at the 3rd North West Meeting on Spectroscopy, Structure and Dyamics at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India (5 - 7 April, 2019). There he is expected to talk about his most recent works on new analytically solvable models of reaction-diffusion system.
25/03/2019 - Our group member Ms. Meenu Upadhyay has accepted Ph.D. position at the University of Basel, Switzerland with Prof. Markus Meuwly. There she is expected to do research in the broad area of theoretical biophysical chemistry.
29/03/2019 - Dr. Chakraborty crossed '1000 lectures' milestone. He taught 14 different courses (aimed for B. Tech., Masters & Ph.D. students) within a span of 9 years of teaching career. He was lucky enough to get approx. 100% attendance in most of his lectures.

In both, mid-semester and end-semester examination 90 different question papers were made for ensuring fair conduct of online examinations. 18/08/2022 - Ms. Ishita Ghorai has joined our research group for her Ph.D.. She did her M.Sc in Chemistry from Calcutta University, Kolkata, India. She is expected to develop a method for understanding quantum monodromy effect in effective Hamiltonian systems.
01/09/2022 - Ms. Anindita Chandra has joined our research group for her Ph.D.. She did her M.Sc in Chemistry from Delhi University, Delhi, India. She is expected to develop a method for understanding bond-dissociation process using effective Hamiltonian.
15/09/2022 - Four of our group members Ms. Anjali Jangid, Mr. Vishal Sharma, Ms. Nidhi Chamoli & Mr. Vasu Nagpal will be presenting poster in DAE-BRNS symposium on 'Current Trends in Theoretical Chemistry' at the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India (September 22-24, 2022).
24/09/2022 - Our former group member Ms. K. V. Samanvitha has received an offer for doing Ph.D. in theoretical condensed matter physics group of Prof. Y. Claveau at the Institut des Materiaux Jean Rouxel, France. She is expected to do molecular dynamics simulation involving ionic liquids.
25/09/2022 - Three of our group members Ms. Anjali Jangid, Mr. Vasu Nagpal & Ms. Ishita Ghorai will be presenting poster in Theoretical Chemistry & Biology symposium' at the Indian Institute of Science Education & Research Mohali, Chandigarh, India (October 15, 2022).
27/09/2022 - Two of our group members Ms. Proma Mondal & Ms. Nidhi Chamoli have bee selected as Research Council members of IIT Mandi for 2022-23. In the past, one of our group members Ms. Moumita Ganguly also served as Research Council member of IIT Mandi.
27/09/2022 - Ms. Bharti Goel (M.Sc. Chemistry) has joined our research group for her Master's thesis. Before joining to IIT Mandi, she did her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Ramjas College, Delhi University, Delhi, India.
27/09/2022 - Ms. Supriya Gautam (M.Sc. Chemistry) has joined our research group for her Master's thesis. Before joining to IIT Mandi, she did her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, Delhi, India.
01/10/2022 - Design Practicum (for a group of six B. Tech. students) project guided by Dr. Kishan & Dr. Chakraborty won 2nd prize in open house.
04/10/2022 - Dr. Chakraborty has been appointed as a member of Senate Library Committee of IIT Mandi for two years (2022 - 24). Dr. Chakraborty worked in the same committee earlier (2013 - 16).
05/10/2022 - Dr. Chakraborty's office is now moved to North Campus of our institute (Room No: A11.04.10). This is Dr. Chakraborty's 6-th office after joining IIT Mandi as a faculty member in June, 2010.
26/10/2022 - Dr. Chakraborty has joined Indian Knowledge System and Mental Health Applications (IKSMHA) Centre of IIT Mandi. He is expected to guide Ph.D./M.Tech. students of this centre and teach courses at all levels.
01/11/2022 - Our group member Ms. Ishita Ghorai is selected for the winter school on quantum computers for chemistry (Helsinki, Finland: 28-th November to 1st December, 2022).
05/11/2022 - Three of our group members will receive Ph.D. degree in the upcoming convocation, Dr. Moumita Ganguly, Dr. Swati Mudra & Dr. Chinmoy Samanta. Dr. Diwaker & Dr. Saravanan are the two past Ph.D. degree holder from our group. All five theses were reviewed by world leaders in the field.
15/11/2022 - Our group member Ms. Ishita Ghorai is selected for poster presentation at the 10-th edition of the very prestigeous Asia-Pacific Conference of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education, Quy Nhon - Vietnam (19 - 23 February, 2023). Our almuni Dr. Moumita Ganguly also presented a poster in the 8-th Edition of this conference at IIT Mumbai, India, in 2017.
16/11/2022 - Our almuni Dr. Deepak Kumer has accepted an offer for joining as a postdoc in Western University of Health Sciences, California, USA. He was the first master's student in our group and his master's thesis was appreciated by experts in the field. He did his Ph.D. in theoretical Chemical Biology in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany.
05/12/2022 - Our former group member Ms. Anup Yadav has received an offer for doing Ph.D. in physics at the highly prestigious, University of Warwick, U.K.. She was the first student of our group, who worked on problems in the area of astro-physics (Hawaking radiation model).
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Sachin Rautela (M.Sc. Chemistry, 2021–2023) has joined Inha University, South Korea as a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He will be working under the supervision of Prof. Hyung Chul Ham in the Computational Catalysis and Nanomaterials Science Lab.
Piyush Sharma Selected for BARC : We are proud to share that our lab member Mr. Piyush Sharma, who completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry (2021–2023) and was part of our group during his Master’s, has been selected to join BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre). He will be joining in the last week of this month.
