This section shows a summary and some examples of measurements conducted on the five historic pianos presented in Section 1. Description. Measurements starts with a thorough examination of the geometry , with emphasis on strings, soundboard (including ribs and bridges), and rim. These data are used for building a model of each instrument (see Section 4. Simulations). A detailed record of some stringing parameters, and of force pulses consecutive to hammer-strings interaction are shown in the subpage B. Hammers and strings. Measurements of soundboard pulses for modal analysis purpose, and examples of soundboard vibrations are presented in the subpage C. Soundboard vibrations. Examples of measurements of the sound pressure radiated by the instruments are presented in the subpage D. Sound pressure.
Simultaneous measurements of hammer pulse, string velocity, bridge and soundboard motion, and sound pressure (from top to bottom).
