The second core unit focuses on Human Rights. Human rights are meant to be guaranteed to every person in the world without any conditions attached to them, but is it really that straightforward in practice? Who is responsible for making sure that human rights are met? What happens or should happen when they are not met? Are human rights truly universal? Throughout this unit, we will explore different sub-groups of human rights, focusing on women's and workers' rights specifically.
You will also notice that a lot of our previous case studies have tackled human rights issues. You can revisit cases like Belarus, Ukraine, Zambia, Somalia and the NYPD for this unit. Similarly, some of the cases we will tackle in the Development and Peace and Conflict units will also be relevant.
In the drop-down navigation up top, you can find the pages for each sub-unit with important information and handouts.
