Course Alignment is when all the content, instructional materials, learning activities, assessments, and learning objectives all work together to help students meet the specified course goals.
Start with the end in mind...
Backward Design
What is Backward Design? Backward Design is a framework for planning a single lesson, a full module, or even an entire course. The goal of backward design is to determine first what you want your students to know, understand, or be able to do by the end of the lesson, module, or course. Then, decide what evidence you need to decide that they have demonstrated that knowledge, understanding, or skill. This evidence could be obtained in an exam, essay, presentation, or project. Finally, pick activities, course materials, and instructional strategies to help your students reach those end goals you've set.
