Accommodation & more

The best way to reach Huddersfield is that of flying to Manchester and then taking a train to the city. Manchester airport is connected via low fare airway companies such as EasyJet and Ryanair to many European cities.

Huddersfield is then about one hour direct train from Manchester Airport (check UK's national railways for details). If you do not like trains, you can also reach Huddersfield by bus, but it takes ca. five hours with National Express.

There are a few options for hotels near the University of Huddersfield. Alternatives closest to the venue of the workshop/symposium are now available below.

HOW TO GET TO HUDDERSFIELD

The University of Huddersfield can be accessed easily via all major airports in England.

Airport Option 1: When booking your flight tickets, we would suggest Manchester airport as the 1stoption as it provides a greater route variety and frequency of flights. From Manchester Airport there is a direct train to Huddersfield (approximately 30 minute duration). The trains are frequent (usually every 15 minutes). The train tickets can be bought at the airport or pre-booked usingwww.trainline.com

Airport Option 2: Leeds-Bradford Airport is the 2nd option we recommend. It is also an international airport. It does have fewer flights and a relatively limited route selection compared to Manchester Airport. However it is closer to Huddersfield on train (approximately 20 minute duration). The trains are frequent (usually every 15 minutes). The train tickets can be bought at the airport or pre-booked using www.trainline.com

Airport Option 3: Heathrow Airport is the next logical option given it is the busiest airport in the country. From the Heathrow airport (terminal 1,2,3,4 & 5) you can take a train to Huddersfield. Trains are quite frequent and fast but can be relatively expensive (£60 +). The train tickets can be bought at the airport or pre-booked using www.trainline.com. For a cheaper option you can try the excellent national express services which have direct busses to Huddersfield. This bus service is cheaper; however, takes about 4 hours 30 minutes to get to Huddersfield. Therefore if you are planning to take this option make sure you have enough time to travel. The bus tickets can be bought at each Heathrow Airport terminal’s National Express office or can be pre booked viahttp://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

Other London Airports: Stanstead and all the other international airports in London also have trains to Huddersfield and can be booked either from the airport ticket office or pre-book onwww.trainline.com. The bus options are also available here. The bus tickets can be bought at each Airport terminal’s National Express office/ ticket office or can be pre booked viahttp://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

Traveling Inland
