AGUILAR, MARIEL C.
Participating in the contemporary theatrical performance was an eye-opening journey that allowed me to grow not only as a performer but also as a leader and team player. One of the most valuable skills I learned during this process was effective communication. I realized that being able to clearly express ideas and listen to others was essential in making our performance successful. I also developed the ability to teach my classmates based on their unique learning styles. Some of them learned faster through demonstration, while others needed step-by-step guidance. By being patient and adapting my teaching methods, I helped them learn the choreography efficiently. I also contributed by teaching the dance steps and helping with the costumes, making sure everything looked organized and creative on stage.
Aside from teaching and supporting the team, I even got the chance to act a little bit during the performance. Although it was a small role, it gave me a taste of performing in front of an audience and boosted my confidence. Most importantly, I really had fun while practicing for this big event. Every rehearsal, despite the challenges, was filled with laughter, learning, and a strong sense of teamwork.
The skills I acquired during this experience such as communication, teaching, teamwork, and even performing will be incredibly useful in the real world. Whether I’m working on a school project, participating in community events, or entering the workforce, I know I can rely on these abilities. Collaborating with others and helping them grow is a competency I will carry with me throughout life.
Among all the areas I improved in, I believe my biggest growth was in leadership. Initially, I doubted my ability to guide others, but through this performance, I gained confidence. Helping my classmates, giving constructive feedback, and supporting them through the challenges taught me that leadership isn’t about being the best, it’s about bringing out the best in others.

I've gained hands-on experience with the techniques and materials involved in subli and ragragsakan. This includes learning how to prepare fabrics, and execute the ragragsakan stitch. I have learned the skills of ragragsakan which is know how to balance, coordination, and strength to navigate terrain while carrying a basket or something on your head. The dance also incorporates elements like waving colorful blankets, singing, and skipping, demonstrating the agility and artistry of the performers. While the subli, i’ve learned to posture my movements andfocus on mastering the music to familiarize yourself with the traditional music. In the real world, the knowledge and skills i’ve gained can be applied to my life, such as sewing, balancing and better understanding to music.
I’ve made the biggest improvements by communicating to the people around me, I’ve learned something new, and it's not just me who benefits from it they also learn from me. Through exchanging opinions and suggestions, we help each other improve our performance. What i can say is some of improvement is learning to accept mistakes and correct them. I've come to realize that life isn't always about getting things right; it's also about making mistakes and learning from them. By acknowledging and accepting errors, I can grow and improve more.
AMBRAD, JULIANA CASSANDRA, S.
This theatrical play was focused on the cultural dances Ragragsakan and Subli, which gave us the opportunity to showcase each tradition. Preparing for this performance was both challenging and fulfilling. This performance became even more special because it was the last performance of ABM401P as a class. It wasn’t just about dancing—it was about hard work, and cooperation.
AQUINO, MARK GABRIEL G.
Taking part in a contemporary theatrical performance was an experience that I will never forget.I was both curious and excited about the theatrical performance, i learned to appreciate the discipline, balance, and dignity. This experience deepened my appreciation for Philippine folk dances and showed me how powerful performance can be in preserving and celebrating culture. The discipline I’ve learned can be applied to my goal i pursue. The are where i feel i made the biggest improvement is my confidence.
BALUTE, SHARMANE
One of the most important things I learned from our contemporary theatrical performance was the value of teamwork. Theater is never a solo act it requires communication, cooperation, and trust. Even though I usually feel shy in front of a crowd, I was able to improve my knowledge and skills in dancing throughout the performance. We performed two folk dances: Ragragsakan and Subli. It was a fun yet tiring experience because we practiced every time but it was all worth it this was our final performance and it gave us a chance to not only perform but also create meaningful memories together.
CAMOCA, JANE LAWRRAINE K.
Joining the theatrical play was a fun and meaningful experience. We practiced a lot and worked together as a team. Wearing our costumes and performing made us feel proud of our culture. We learned about teamwork, confidence, and how to enjoy the moment. It was a great experience that we’ll always remember.
CARREON, JORGE P.
This theatrical play, at first I’m feeling nervous yet very excited because as a section leader I want to give a better performance because this is our last. This performance challenged me but also transformed me not just a performer but as a leader and a good collaborator. I learned to be present, emotionally open, and authentic, embracing exercises like improvisation and ensemble work. These helped me sharpness my body awareness, vocal tone, and character understanding. I gained confidence in communicating with members, with leadership, and teamwork. The empathy and flexibility I developed made me stronger, more considerate person. Most importantly, I found my voice growing from anxious to empowered, both on stage and in life, with newfound self-confidence.

When I heard the type of PETA we had to do I dreaded everything because I am not a dancer nor an actor. I like contemporary arts because of the visual arts and history aspect but when it comes to dancing and acting they really aren't just for me. I thought I could get away from them thinking I can just be heavily involved in the production and writing but I was wrong because we were to be graded based on dancing too. I tried not to think too much of it even though I really hated it. I didn't want to hold everyone back because of my incapabilities.
During the preparation I was relieved I wasn't the overall leader because aside from dancing and acting not being my forte, I have been so genuinely burnt out from everything, so I really applaud and thank Jorge for doing a great job as our leader. The preparation was ofcourse hectic, some were not taking it seriously, and some were just straight up slackers. During practices though, I did have fun especially the practices outside school. It's always amusing to be with my classmates outside of school and the incorporation of messing around and having fun with serious practice made everything entertaining and memorable. I believe the practices deepened our bond together as a section and the cliques within.
I admit we were procrastinating, seeing that we had to go to Divisoria a few days before the performance just to finish our costumes last minute. The trip was so tiring but it was fun because I got to experience new things with my classmates. Lastly, I believe the performance paid off considering the amount of time we had to prepare. Although I am still sad that the ending becamer anticlimactic because the actors forgot the sequence of the scenes. But overall, I'm really proud of our section.
DE LOS SANTOS, LUISE GRACE F.
During the announcement from PETA, I was thrilled to learn that we would be putting on a theatrical play. I was excited because I enjoy acting and dancing. This opportunity enhanced my dancing and acting skills, improved my facial expressions, and boosted my confidence when performing. We also displayed great teamwork during our play. Although we faced some challenges while polishing our dance routines, everything turned out well, with only a few mistakes.
These experiences have helped me grow, and I believe I can use these skills in the future. If we were to have acting or plays in college, it could be a wonderful experience since I improved some of those areas. If I ever need to speak publicly or present in front of an audience, I feel confident because I have been practicing public speaking through reports and role plays throughout my senior high school year.
I think my biggest improvement during our play was overcoming my fear of standing in front of many people. This had been a weakness of mine since childhood. Fortunately, as I grew older, I became more confident in performing before an audience. Additionally, my stage

Theatrical Play by ABM401P. It is the last heavy PETA this school year and when I say heavy-It is Tiring. I thought it would be easier since my main focus and contribution is about dancing, and dancing is my passion but I felt extremely tired and wanted to give up. I remember when I told Jorge, "Jorge, konti nanaman kami, ang pangit" but I told myself that I have to do this because I need to. Every night, I have to think of some steps that may be easier to understand since I know that we do not have the same capabilities when it comes to dancing—I considered that. Seeing the outcome of the whole play made me happy and beyond proud of this strand and section. All the hard work from the costume to storyline paid off. The heavy sigh of relief after the play where we realized that it is finally done and we have come to an end.
"Makaka graduate na tayo."
EUGENIO, CHARLES
We need to be more cooperative and we need to have more patience practicing our theatrical play.
FAURILLO, TRISHA MAE A.
This theatrical play as a whole section was a wonderful and meaningful experience. The play showed the differences and shared values between the tribes such as unity and respect for the differences. It wasn’t just for education and cultural appreciation, but it also taught me the importance of teamwork; we made it because of teamwork. Also, I learned to appreciate the people who led us throughout the whole play and didn’t give up. It may be tiring for us – but it was more tiring for them as they carry the whole section. I somehow will cherish this last performance of ABM401P.
GUMBAN, CLAIRE JUSTINE
Ragragsakan is a traditional folk dance of the Kalinga people in the northern Philippines that portrays women gracefully balancing baskets on their heads. By dancing raggabsakan I learned how to balance my body with gentle movements. Even though it was tiring, I learned a lot about how to dance it and I enjoyed it somehow.
JAVIER, ANGELICA MARIE
I've learned to be more cooperative, as it takes a lot of practice and patience- especially because learning this dance isn't something I can do in just one day.
NEZORTADO, JASHMEY B.
Performing the theatrical play with my classmates was a fun and unforgettable experience. We were all excited, not just because we were going to perform, but also because it was the last day and finally, all our hard work was coming to an end. We spent so many hours practicing, memorizing lines, and preparing everything—from costumes to props. It was tiring and stressful at times, but we still gave our best. During the performance, we felt nervous but also proud and happy. Seeing the audience enjoy the play made it all worth it. This experience taught us the importance of teamwork, effort, and enjoying every moment, especially when working together as a class.
PATRIARCA, DICE ANDREW C.
The cultural performance highlights pride and unity through traditional attire and dance. It made me value the importance of preserving and celebrating our cultural roots.
PIMENTEL, STEVEN JHON CHRISTIAN
From the beginning of our lessons on contemporary theatrical performance, I have gained a wide range of knowledge, skills, and competencies that have deeply shaped my understanding of the art form. One of the most significant things I learned was how to analyze and interpret modern scripts, understanding not just the lines but the emotions, intentions, and social commentaries they convey. I also acquired practical performance skills such as voice modulation, body movement, and improvisation—that helped me portray characters with authenticity and confidence. Moreover, I honed my collaboration and communication skills through group rehearsals and live performances, where teamwork and adaptability were crucial.
These learnings are not only valuable in the world of theater but are also transferable to real-world situations. For example, the confidence I built in delivering lines and engaging an audience can help me with public speaking or presentations in professional and academic settings. The critical thinking I developed while interpreting scripts can be applied to analyzing complex problems or making thoughtful decisions. Additionally, the discipline and time management I practiced during rehearsals are essential life skills I can carry into any future career or responsibility.
Among the many areas of growth I experienced, I believe my biggest improvement was in self-expression and stage presence. Initially, I was hesitant and unsure of how to fully embody a role. But with consistent practice, feedback, andencouragement, I learned to trust myself and bring genuine energy to the stage. This growth has helped me find my voice not only as a performer but also as an individual.
Overall, this journey in contemporary theatrical performance has been both enriching and empowering. It has opened my eyes to the power of storytelling, the importance of collaboration, and the endless possibilities of creative expression.
RAFOL, JAZMINE M.
Based on the previous lessons covered, the techniques, aspects, and skills I have learned include how arts and crafts help develop various developmental skills. They focus on self-expression and emotional development, while also enhancing thinking, coordination, and social skills, particularly in terms of understanding and influencing the audience which we always applied in every practice, rehearsals, voice lessons, and the actual performance itself.
Additionally, recognizing our potential is crucial to fully apply the necessary skills in folk dances and acting too. The act of creating something new, improved, and innovative through authentic creativity that solely strengthens our confidence in our thinking abilities. With this in mind, I believe that creativity is not just about memorization; it is a valuable personal experience that should be nurtured and developed for use in everyday life.
As a student in the ABM strand and an incoming accountancy student, I believe these skills have significantly contributed to my journey, serving as both lessons and reminders to never stop learning. I believe that I grow every day, I learn every day, and I earn every day through the experiences I gain, which help me develop personally and apply my skills in all aspects of life. These skills are not only useful in arts, crafts, and academics but are also valuable in personal and social matters—especially when it comes to tasks that require creativity, planning that demands critical thinking, and executing plans that involve developmental skills.
As we regularly practiced, rehearsed, took voice lessons, sewed our costumes, and made our props for the performance, I realized that the areas I needed to improve on were execution, emotional appeal, and confidence. At first, I thought I was already doing well—that there was no need for improvement because I was performing each step and act correctly and cleanly. But over time, I came to nderstand that there were still things I needed to work on.
How did I feel during that time? It made me more conscious, aware, and strict with myself. I felt the pressure to do my best—but more importantly, I reminded myself to enjoy the process. And so, on the day of the performance, I allowed myself to fully enjoy the experience and give my best. I didn’t want to look back with regret, knowing there were things I could have improved from the start.
SAGENES, JOSHUA D.
As Iwe performed and practiced this special activity, I feel and realized a lot of things. First, I able to collaborate with the whole class, in which we practice this activity all together to make it more beautiful performance to all. Second, I able to enhance my confidence, where I able to perform this performance in front of many people around us. And lastly, I able to discover a dance where we perform this in order to embrace and show the dance tradition of the other tribe.
SAMANTILLA, DANIELLE A.
One of the most important things I learned was how to effectively collaborate with others. Theater is never a solo act it requires teamwork, communication, and trust. I learned how to listen to my classmates, accept feedback, and adjust based on the group’s needs. Although I know within myself that I’m not a great dancer or performer, and I tend to get shy in front of a big crowd, I often felt overwhelmed by the fear of making mistakes, especially during our contemporary theatrical performance. But I did gain a bit of confidence along the run of our performance. Overall, my experience in contemporary theatrical performance was both challenging and rewarding.
SY, LYKA DENIESH L.
The performance went wonderfully; all the hard work and dedication paid off. Before the performance, we practiced endlessly. The concept was amazing and humorous, and the dance and acting were both excellent, with some truly funny moments. In the end, I learned new things and improved my skills, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
TAYAG, SHEKINAH ROSE B.
So, this was the performance for our PETA/Exam for P.E and Contemporary, we performed two folk dance which was ragragsakan and subli. It was a fun yet tiring one because we got to learn and cooperate with each other with the dance and tiring because we always practiced the dance every time we don’t have any class for other subjects. It was also great to be able to perform this because this was the last performance that we were going to do for a PETA. And also, because even though there’s always practice we at least had time to create some memories during the preparation for this performance.
VACALARES, PRINCE
Performing a theatrical play is a powerful and transformative experience. Theater is more than just entertainment—it's a mirror that reflects the realities of life, emotion, and human connection. Throughout the performance, I was reminded of how deeply stories can move us, whether through joy, sorrow, conflict, or resolution.
I was performed in a Subli and In the end, the play left me inspired—not just by the story told, but by the way theater brings people together to share in something meaningful. It showed me how art can make us feel, reflect, and even change how we see the world.
