Dance Showcases

Dear ABJ Fine Arts Community,

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that ABJ Fine Arts regrets to announce the formal cancellation of all remaining performances for the 2019/20 school year. This includes our productions of the musical Band Geeks, the play The Velveteen Rabbit, the musical Annie Jr., the Spring Choir and Band Concerts, all scheduled Art shows and all Fine Arts Week events planned for this semester.

We want to acknowledge the incredible dedication, passion, commitment and artistry that all of our students have put into this season and into these projects! You have given your time, talents, blood, sweat and tears to the Fine Arts at ABJ this year, and although the physical and symbolic curtain has closed on our season, we look forward to it opening again so that we may return to creating beautiful, inspiring art for each other and for our community again!

For so many of you who are students in our program, ABJ Fine Arts is your community; it is your family away from home. We want you to know that it remains so. We are here for you when you need us, and we stand strong together through this adversity. As so many of us have learned through our experiences on the stage, in rehearsal, in front of a canvas or in the dance studio, we develop and diversify by overcoming our struggles, and this experience holds true to that rationale - we will be stronger when we arrive at the other side of this. We will emerge with a new story to tell, and we will have new experiences to draw from that will strengthen us as artists and as people. Challenge makes us stronger, and it is in these times that we must accept and embrace the difficult path that lies ahead. In looking forward we must, sometimes unfortunately, close the door on opportunities that we once looked fondly toward, knowing that we have learned from our experiences despite not seeing them reach their pinnacle. We can, however, take solace that the knowledge and wisdom we have gained thus far goes with us into the future and can be drawn upon as we venture forward. For now, our Fine Arts classes continue in a new, online environment, and we continue to build and hone our artistic skills!

To our grade 12’s, we offer you a very special thank you. As you journey through your remaining days as a student of our school, and progress on to the next exciting phase of your life, we want you to know how much you have impacted us; how much your passion, creativity, drive and love for ABJ Fine Arts means to everyone here - your legacy will not be forgotten! Whether it be through your involvement in our curricular programs like Art, Band, Choir, Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre and Technical Theatre or in extracurricular programs like Improv Club, Cappies Theatre Critic Team, or Citadel Students’ Club, you have inspired those around you to greatness and have been mentors to the younger generations of artists that will carry the ABJ Fine Arts torch after you. We owe you an immense debt of gratitude for all you have offered us during your time here. Best to you in all you do!

A genuine message of appreciation also goes out to our patrons. To the many parents, friends, families and individuals who have supported ABJ Fine Arts this year and in years past, we offer a heartfelt thank you. It is you who fill the seats of our theatre and when you join us, our spaces resound with the rewarding sounds of your applause, laughter, joy and tears. In choosing to be a part of our performance season, you fill the hearts of our casts, crews and directors with those same emotions, and in so doing, we share the experience of art together as one community. For this, we are ever thankful. ABJ Fine Arts looks forward to beginning again and sincerely hopes you will join us when it is safe to open our doors to you again!

For now, we carry on. In the interest of our health, safety and collective future, we must remain vigilant in our social distancing measures and as such, we must bid goodbye to the 2019-20 live performance season. Please be patient with us as we work through all of the details of ticketing refunds. We are working with our partners at the varied agencies we use to promote our events, and are solidifying the proper course for refunding tickets for this season. So far, tickets that were purchased online can be refunded at www.showtix4u.com. Please contact the Showtix4U office at tickets@showtix4u.com or 866-967-8167 for information and assistance with refunding tickets purchased online. However, any patrons who purchased tickets at the ABJ school office must have copies of valid tickets and need to contact Wendy Prud'homme (ABJ business manager) at wendyp@eics.ab.ca or 780-467-2121 for information on returns/refunds. If you would like to consider donating your ticket purchase to ABJ Fine Arts, we would graciously accept your gift, as it will assist us in bringing you bigger and better productions when we are ready to open our curtains again! Please email our business manager, Wendy Prud’homme, at wendyp@eics.ab.ca with the details of your purchase, and we will be glad to accept the donation of your unused ticket purchase.

Once again, thank you for your continued support of ABJ Fine Arts. Be well, stay safe and God bless.

Sincerely,

ABJ Fine Arts Team
