Fifth Grade Reading Incentive 2025
Every year our fifth graders READ ACROSS AMERICA. The reading incentive project begins in March during Read Across America Month and ends in June with the drawings and prizes.
The goal is to explore our country by reading books set in different states which give a "flavor" for the place.. Mrs. London has created 51 reading lists of middle grade books, one list for each state plus the District of Columbia. These lists include physical books, e-books, and audiobooks. There are thousands of books on the lists so everyone is sure to find something they like.

The Week Junior's List is a simple list with one book per state. Students will have to check Destiny Discover and/or SORA to see if we have the book. (Any books we own on this list have already been added to our individual state lists.

Ms. Ventakatram sent Maddie and wonderful package filled with bookmarks, and autographed posters. (She even sent one for Maddie's teacher and Librarian ) Maddie graciously shared one of her autographs with her friend, who is also a fan!
At the end of the project there was a drawing to win gift cards for ice cream, book stores etc. (Special thanks to Starland Mini Golf!)
As an added incentive Mrs. London agreed to dye her hair if all the 5th grade classes worked together to read 51 books, (one from each state!)
Kaileigh D, from Miss Hymans class, the person who read the most books choose the color of Mrs. London's hair.
